Here's a video demonstration in florida of my Sifu, doing Wing Chun. Just the most incredible wing chun demonstration ever. Literally demonstrating a ton of advance techniques, and for those of you who've never seen it, there's more to wing chun then doing lousy low level chain punches.

Up wasn’t concerned about popularising Wing Chun. Particularly to the west. Bruce was Wong Shun Leong’s student in Ips school. After Bruce went to the states and started acting & teaching, Ip shunned him.

To all the MMA fighters out there you should all remember that the father of MMA was bruce lee. His main foundation came from wing chun it self to begin with, so please show some respect to all martial arts...as you should always keep in mind that there will always be good competition in all arts...so get your facts right and research on actual facts before you sound out. There will always be some one bigger and stronger then you.

It's called tradition and style. Much like dancing is. It's practically their form of dancing. It's a movement based on flow and practice. As with most traditional martial arts, it's ancient, it's legend, it's practice, it's kung fu. It may not win in a today's fight, but it's about the tradition and the art form, not necessarily the "who can beat up who." Now take what I said and stop arguing.

depends on The fighter for The most part many people have a har time useing what they learnd in a real fight and have hade very lite experiens of sparing The funny thing that is with wing chun is that some tearchers teashes sparing and some dont compera to judo wheir every tearsh teashes sparing and The same with MMA so it really depands how you learn from and chi sao is only to build up your reflekses and in a real fight it doesnt look as pretty as in this video.

Don't knock someone else's style just because you lack the comprehension to see the applications. This video is a demo of reflex training...the actual fighting applications look much different (IF you see them at all before you get KO'd). Just because you don't want to participate doesn't mean you should hate. Challenge a WC master for yourself. When you get out of the E.R. we can talk again.

Wing Chun, as I understand it, is the art of using your opponents movements to disable then. For instance, if someone comes as you with a strike, you would not only block them but use their momentum to close them up so they cannot hit you, leaving them very vulnerable, vs Jiu-Jitsu which opens the opponent to strike them. It is a very effective form as I have a friend who is belted and has taught me(a former Marine) a few things. Love the video!

I work at a facility for the mentally ill, and I do have to say, sticking hands definitely helped build up reflexes that have helped me on the job, especially in breaking up fights. The most recent incident I had to step in to break up, I was able to keep the patient from attacking by restraining the shoulders with my hands from the front, preventing any attempts to strike anyone. I had to read the movements in motion, and that's where the sticking hand training came in.

@iApna I'd like to respectfully ask you a question. Do you think that in a fight to the death the system of MMA would be more effective than the system of WC. Taking into account that MMA is a sport ( a good one) where the prime focus is on the tap out or ko and WC is a weapons based combat system where one of the first things you learn is how to strike to the vital points to cause death? I would be interested to hear your response. I'm trying to understand how you MMA guys think. Thanks

@mannyts7668
@mannyts7668 10 лет назад
I had a lot street fight I did good because of wing ching and other stuff I learn when was young. I combined my own style of fighting without fighting. It not matter I big a person is or the fight he does. Without the energy within inside there's no hope! When you built your aura then you are more powerful then a regular human. Your speed and power increase. That what Bruce was doing. But not too many people knew. So wing ching was my key to find my energy. Loke I said before i had to many fight and i use too live in the project. It does work on real fights.

None of the applied pressure is making it into the core of his body. I would hate to chi sao against him as he would tire me out in less than a minute of practice.

@TheBallKeeper I agree that it is important to analyze every art. Wing Chun is unique because it incorporates physics into the actual style, which can enable you to use your opponent's energy against them. While I agree that analyzing or even learning different arts can be beneficial, and that certain arts have certain advantages/disadvantages, Wing Chun takes all of these into consideration. It just comes down to how much practice you have attained and how disciplined you are.

@OMFGDmanrules What I think of when I watch them in the beginning of the demonstration.. It seems to help with a lot of defensive blocking. And speed, and location of where people's hits will land. Wing Chun is about learning to see what someone does before they even do it, so that you can instantly defend it and make a vital blow.

@TheBallKeeper there's one other point I missed (sorry) and it's pretty damn crucial. Contrary to perceptions, the trailing hand is never stationary. It often follows the elbow of the lead hand. When the lead hand is extended, the trailing hand is moving either forward, up, down, left or right or it's striking, depending on your opponents body language (the most skilled fighter can still be read like a book). If the trailing hand isn't deflecting or COVERING the head OR BODY then it is STRIKING.

@spikeydewd01 Problem is, a hook is quick - speed is its crucial feature - and is performed at short range, either after a dive under the opponent's arm, which instantaneously breaks the distance, or when you naturally approach your adversary after a sucessful combination of punches. It shouldn't be confused with a long-distance loopy punch, which takes a lot more time and is easier to predict and deflect by far. In fact, a hook is extremely difficult to avoid or block - even for professionals.

Don’t worry I understand where you are coming from, there is a thing with Wing Chun that its actually quite difficult to see how it can work, I’ve met people who have done it for a few years and haven’t figured it out, and even when you are learning it you have to put a lot of trust in your Sifu that what he’s teaching you works. But believe me if you learn it right and understand it, and if you have actually trained properly, most people don’t, it will definitely work.

that technique is sticky hands, its used when 2 wing chun ppl are training and testing their abilties and gain sensitivity, it helps a bit in real situations in that u can move ur oponent and feel where the force of their next blow will be, since in most wing chun forms of offence, you hold onto your opponent

(Cont.) Knees to face- which are illegal in UFC while opponent is grounded which is what they are when they are going for a take down. Elbows to base of head/neck which are also illegal etc. I could go on with all the illegal strikes and techniques but it is easy enough for you to search them within the UFC rules.

@iApna On 2 separate occasions I've put guys down with a single punch and those punches were deliberately gauged to concuss and not kill. If you know anything about fighting you should know that when you hit a guy he can stumble backwards & remain standing, he can stumble back and fall or he will collapse downwards on the spot. The last one means that as soon as he got hit he was unconscious. If needs be that could very easily be gauged up to be a killing blow. Talking from experience on the st.

@TheBallKeeper you are 80% correct. The major points that people miss are: With the arms extended, your face is much further from the punch; By watching different areas of the body (not hands and feet) you get twice the time to react; Footwork should have you out of range of the punch while either deflecting or dodging and simultaneously striking; The most crucial is - if a boxer has no gloves on but holds his hand to his head, I'm gonna smash that hand into his head until he's KO'd by it...

@ShieldLiger13
@ShieldLiger13 12 лет назад
@SkemeKOS Yeah that's true. Also with MMA fighters and boxers, their fighting style relies heavily on size and strength for grappling/endurance/heavy blows respectively. In contrast a good wing chun practitioner is generally small in build to help promote speed and fluidity. Wing chun doesn't use strength to over power the opponent. It uses balance, dominance and speed to make the opponents strength invalid. But it's like in the sequel "ip man 2" where he's fighting a boxer.
