The easiest entry into back winding is via a lay down gybe / race gybe. Let the wing start to power with the leading edge pointing downwards, push hard into the back hand (more than you think) and then raise the leading edge and shift it backwards so that the leading edge is close to your chest and not out in front of you like it would be normally. Then lift the leading edge up (rather than pointing straight down at the water) to fully power and build speed, very often you don't need to go beyond a 45 degree strut angle to be welll powered. You are currently going in like a wing drag 360 and it will be difficult to get the wing to power up stable with it in this position. Love the tacks and foot swaps - got those super dialed.
Thanks for the pointers! I’ve been watching some videos and have made a bit of progress yesterday with some different ways to get into the position. Just fighting the muscle memory of pulling in to power up and pushing away to depower 😅 thanks again!
@@LachieWhite yeah it takes a while and some wings are way better at backwinding than others. I think backwinding was probably the skill so far that took me the longest to get conmfortable with as so much of it is alien or counter intuitive to what you normally do.
