Having followed your videos for quite some time now I've gained excellent insight and found enjoyment in viewing your adventures. As a prospective wooden aeroplane builder I find a certain incentive to get to cutting some lumber soon. Hope to see more tutorials and high flying adventures. Thanks so much for sharing your skills and knowledge with fellow aviators and would be builders. Jeff

what's the weight of this rib?
@19Cub

Hi Howard, off the top of my head I don't remember the exact weight of these ribs but in this video series, there is a video showing how I weighed them on a gram scale. If memory serves, I think they were averaging around 7 ounces but don't quote me on that. 🙂 Try to find the video of weighing these ribs on the gram scale. Thanks for watching.

Dwain, Thank you so much for your very informative series on building the Corben Cabin wing rib. Though I have been involved in the construction of 5 different homebuilt airplanes over the years, none had built up wing ribs. You've answered 90% of the questions I had ... though I was unable to get episode 3 to play so this percentage might be higher. I am especially grateful for your "old school" tutorial on rib building, and will follow this method on my next project (a modified Pietenpol with a Riblett airfoil). Thanks again, and I would encourage you to continue your video educational series as you progress with the wings, etc.. This is perhaps one of the best series on wing rib building I've ever seen. Thank you for the very kind words Arlen. I am glad to know that some like minded friends can benefit from my efforts to pass along some of this knowledge. I hope you will be able to see part 3 because I think it will be worth viewing. Again Arlen, thanks a lot....Dwain

Hi my friend, I knew you would ace the theoreticle exam and I have no doubt that you will ace the practical as well. I would love to visit you in France if I may ever get the opportunity. Keep up the good work in your aviation studies my friend. Those of us following you on youtube are proud of you and your progress. Tailwinds always.....Dwain

Wanna talk about weight. You gonna take the nails ya?
@19Cub
@19Cub 2 года назад
I AM NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY. I AM GUESSING YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY THAT IF I WAS GOING TO STRESS WEIGHT-SAVING THEN WHY HAVE I NOT REMOVED THE NAILS? To remove the nails would gouge up the mahogany gussets that I am not willing to let occur and would show a lack of pride in workmanship, also, I have seen older ribs where the glue had deteriorated and the nails were the only thing holding the gussets in place. I am all about saving weight where it makes sense but not willing to take things too far into the extreme. I hope this helps.
