My friends always gave me shit for liking these guys! They never saw the talent like I do! SICK!! Good to see them still rockin HARD!! They sound incredible!!
This is one of the greatest bands of all time. You may not care for the music hundred percent but the musicians are amazing and Kips voice is amazing. I was lucky enough to play with Kip with the rock 'n roll fantasy camp. He is an amazing guy. What an amazing musician. Reb ,Rod, all of them are amazing. Aaron, with Icon Rising
Really good song. I still remember Kip personally thanking me on my MySpace wall(back when MySpace was big) for a compliment I gave them after seeing Winger live. Kip is a really cool dude in my book and they put on a GREAT show.
Kip Winger is a class act. I saw him twice. Once in 91 and in 07. He was way ahead of the game. People played him of as a pretty boy band. But he had the best musician around him, Reb, and Rob are two of the best in the business. I would go see him when he tours again Hopefully that will happen.
It was Metallica. They tried to figure out Winger's style and tried to incorporate it into their music. When they failed, they dissed winger to hell. Funny thing is, Winger wanted to grow up to be a composer. Which sets him apart from most bands... Then again, most bands didn't get good advice when working with previous bands... Thanks to Alice Cooper, Kip Winger changed the name from Sahara to Winger. And he did become a composer. Got an award from the US Army for a Composition for them.
I'm not a great drummer, but I know great drumming when I hear it. Rod has to be one of the best rock drummers. If you really listen to his beats, there is so much there. He makes it sound and look so simple. But I know it's anything but. Go Winger. Unbelievably talented band. Should be more respected.
He hasn't really been absent. He's kept busy all along w/ his solo stuff. It's true those vocals aren't quite as demanding but he's also done a ton of acoustic shows during that time and still belted out the Winger stuff along w/ solo stuff. I think he just has really strong pipes and has taken very good care of them. He REALLY rocks on the new album...
3:09-3:17 kip just simply kills. rod, john and reb are simply unreal. and as for the jerkoffs, who doesn't know any better than the morons they follow out there in the industry calling themselves rock: this is hard&heavy rockin' boys. this is the essence of rock. listen to this and maybe you may even learn a little something. these guys have been doing this for twenty something years now, and getting even better at it.
ok i love kip and i love winger. so hate to be the one to say it, but that last note you mentioned, bone... lasted a little longer than when his head left the mic. and why cut away to a back shot? i think that was dubbed. in fact, i think alot of the lead vocals on this dvd were dubbed. i could be wrong but it's not unheard of for live concerts to ENHANCE via post recording. i don't doubt kip could do it and i would not say anything if i didn't see his head move away from the mic too soon
That was the Metallica - Nothing Else Matters music video. But yeah, they're definitely very talented, way more talented than Metallica, also more talented than Mötley Crüe.
