I believe that Kip Winger is a musical genius, this song no exception! He has written orchestral pieces and gotten praise in higher circles for his talents.. When will people wake up and really believe that Winger was the true essence of MUSIC in the eighties and nineties!! Political awareness, peoples rights and human rights were the message of Kip's songs. Please set the record straight...Kip was doin what he loved and saw it being derailed by some jealous sorts who thought they knew better and had a Beavis and Buttwad agenda!! LOL ...Only those who know will prosper!
This is truly a profound and poignant song that proves to be timeless. Winger as a band has been and the individual bandmates have been severely underrated over the years. A damn shame because Kip is multi-talented...plays bass, 6-string, 12-string, and piano, great lyricist & composer. And if you watch some of the early videos, the man has some moves...very limber. And Reb Beach is one helluva lead guitarist. They were and remain to be a genuinely great band.
Maybe it's just me, but the songs has some religious message in them through the years, I like it. It shows Winger has grown as an artist instead of sounding the same. The so called musicians of today need to take lessons from Kip Winger on how to grow musically
Much better band than they ever got credit for. The songs "Seventeen" and "Can't Get Enough" soiled their reputation irreversably. The Pull CD was their best and Kip's solo stuff is brilliant, check out My Resurrection, Endless Circles, and Here, among others. This man is one hell of a talent who can write music of far greater depth and intelligence than most casually familiar with his band could ever fathom. "Seventeen" didn't even scratch the surface of what were capable of...
Pull is one my all-time favorite albums. Such a cohesively dark and poetic tone from start to finish. People always talk about Winger's ripping guitars, but the 12-string acoustic stuff on Pull is just the best. It's amazing how much these guys evolved from their first album. Pull is truly a lost classic.
Winger, awesome band. This song is just very........current. Why can't we live in peace? Just don't get it. People should just step back and realize what they do to their enemies, they do to themselves. Love your fellow human being dammit.
remember how van halen made the world's ears stand up and pay attention, they were different, mesmerizing, you were hooked, winger is the same kind of band, amazing, different, mesmerizing, eddie and reb created a sound that no one to this day can duplicate, not comparing the two but just saying, well you know what i mean! i love both of these bands for what they can accomplish that no other band can or ever will achieve, true genius! pitbull rock and roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not the biggest fan of acoustic guitar, but this does it right and well. I once heard a guy at a music store I use to frequent when I was 19 say this was "the worst of the glam bands." I listen to their music and wonder what the hell he was talking about. These guys could/can play and actually write amazing songs.
one of the 80s glam metal bands that were underrated, this is one of a lot of songs that really show that winger was and still is a great one, so can u imagine a bass solo on a song in the 90´s keep on rockin winger cheers
Thank you for this- WINGER is about real METAL- Real MUSIC- To this I bow my Head. WINGER is still looked at as progressive music. Winger is considered one of the greatest bands in history to be underrated.. I would still go out with Kip- He is Sexy - And I am a Straight Male-- lol Damn I want to be as good as him!
@mrwilliamwonder Indeed, I also think it has to do with the fact that they weren't really limited by the time they got to the PULL album. Though, it really sucks to know that Bevis & Butthead killed them, according to Kip. I have to agree. I'm glad they're still around making music!! PULL is by far one of my favorites too
Its sad how all of these older news clips have a shockin resemblance to what we see when we turn the news on to today, its like we keep repeating history, when will it ever stop???
@cdm123: Yes, Pull has it all From gut crunching Junkyard Dog to the finer acoustic of Who's the One @mrwilliamwonder: Alice cooper kinda took Kips recognition, but we know what a talent he has become
People of the world should watch this video and see that this is what our world has become. A place that people are ravaged by hate and live in fear. We should all be ashamed of ourselves. This is not what was intended by GOD. He gave us a beautiful gift.....FREE WILL...and look what we've done with it. We are truly failing this test.
3 interesting links for this music video come to my mind... with this similar thematic: a) Hawkwind "We Took the Wrong Step Years Ago" an unnoficial fan video (music from 1972) b) Asia "Who Will Stop the Rain?" another fan video (music from 1992) c) Alain Souchon "Et si en plus y'a personne" (official music video from 2005) This is a rarity in pop... a popular french song with meaningful words... this is so bright & melancholic at the same time , with so soul deep lyrics...
What a great song! The video that goes with it is cool too, just looking at all the quotes! Almost all of the quotes had a point except the ones by stalin and mussoulini.
Pull was terribly underrated if you go by Charting. But it did prove Winger was more than "just another hair-metal band who knows nothing but power chords." Great, thoughtful stuff.
@ Dreaka, I'm 17 year old and it's true, that Heavy Metal is for me screaming to micro and shootin' in guitar and I don't like it. But if Winger's songs are/were Metal, then I LOVE it, especially song: Spell I'm Under. Still lookin' for download.
Always dug this song ... It's sort of a political song, but I've never been entirely clear on what Kip's saying, in the song though. No question Kip shouldn't have tried to look all "grunge"y ... his hair and everything. Didn't help them any! Great vocals, on this, which Kip and crew still sound great on today
sorry accidentally clicked thumbs down! :) .... ahem but I agree, Pull is a classic album. I got it in 1996 and could not fathom why it hadn't been succesful... no bad songs on that album.
You know in the 80s we called these guys Metal. That's what they were. Metal now means incoherent screaming. I guess to this generation it's 'glam'. Lame if you ask me.
