As someone who is friends with people relied on specifically SLS, there's still going to be a niche that will still need to be met. This is interesting and if it gets funded it will be interesting to see where it goes.

It is great that they are taking a crack at it. I also agree that people are going to ask to print things that cannot be printed. If they partner with one of the repositories, maybe they can have a requirement for *Wingman Verified* where the designer has made sure that for the most part is is printable by submitting it to a wingman enabled location, if they do not own a printer and have it deleivered to them for validation. Kind of a cost of doing business for being *Wingman Verified*.

FYI you are using your Yeti slightly wrong, they aren't designed to talked down on from the edge of the mesh the way you have it pushed forward, tip it backwards more so the logo is actually facing up towards you. Talking down on the 'tip' makes the pressure wave of your voice cancel itself out a lot, as it hits both sides of the diaphragm, and therefore a weak signal is made, speak from one side only. I made this mistake and couldn't figure out why voice-triggering was so inconsistent.

Marketing is one of the things a successful company needs. And if they're missing marketing, are they also missing logistics? Security? Finance? The difference between this campaign and one for a board game, for example, is that a successful campaign and product delivery for a board game is the end of the road. It's done. You get value. For the Wingman, you are buying the product and then hoping the company can keep itself afloat. I don't know how it plans to build, package, deliver and support their product while paying the upkeep, support and bandwidth cost for their web service on $10k. I didn't see any mention of future revenues in the video or the FAQ. I'd need to see some glimmer of hope that they can not only deliver the project but also allow it to be more than a paperweight for a few months after delivery - because the only thing worse than buying a $325 paperweight is being a $325 product that you built a business around that then becomes a paperweight after 8 months and you lose your revenue stream that you built. I hate how much of a suit this whole comment makes me sound like.... I swear I don't wear a suit. I'm not even wearing pants!

We only make money when you make money. We take 20% of designer fees and 20% of operator fees. No subscription, this aligns our interests with designers and operators. We run on a jetson nano this makes installing our os less than 5 minutes and is a scalable solution trusted on many dedicated devices. It's more robust and powerful than a raspberry pi. We are willing to buy back the hardware for $200 at any time and if we go under you can easily resell the hardware for that price or higher if you don't like the services we provided. We have already received an investment so are not relying on the $10,000 to keep us up and running or security. This was simply for exposure. Kickstarter was an attempt at marketing through exposure. In my opinion, kickstarter campaign's focus too much on a fancy video and not enough on the product or service. We did the opposite. We don't need the Kickstarter campaign to succeed for us to be successful but we'd sure like it too.

We understand, we get it. We just want to make 3dprinting businesses scalable bc right now they're not. We believe we can help grow printing locations for operators who want to grow and expand. We didn't want to do this internally and I fought hard for this business model that was focused on revenue sharing not pay to play under a subscription. We wanted to allow all designers and operators a benifit (All against our investors wishes who wants a pay to play subscription as a b2b product) I'm a designer and an operator (Haas Damon), this is the model I would want, that I would buy but I may be loosing that fight. Fyi the hardware can be sold for the same price you buy it for on eBay (Jetson nano module and carrier board). These units are created by nvidia to run inference. They most certainly are not PI's, even though there would be nothing wrong with using PI's if supported. That's just some top-down bs that scares people from starting competition.

I really can't imagine this being viable. Even if it were to work some of the time there would likely be a lot of finger pointing any time something goes wrong. Stuff goes wrong with 3D printing. Also, with budget 3D printers it is fine to have them idle some of the time as they are not production machines. The more they run the more maintenance they will require.

@peircedan understood and agreed. By far our biggest challenge. Below is our plan for right now but is obviously a dynamic policy that will require input from customers, operators and designers for improvement. We are open to alternative structures and improvement suggestions. The below business model was created with the goal of decentralized distributive manufacturing. 1. Simplify the 3dprinting process for individuals or companies in need of an alternative local manufacturing option (Decentralized). 2. Ensure the individual making the purchase is able to select a local option for the creation of a product (Distributive). 3. Integrate expert designers and machine operators and allow them to contribute and benefit (manufacturing). If an operator has a camera on the bed and can show a successful print, payment is delivered to the operator 7 days after completion allowing the customer 7 days to dispute. If the operator doesn't use a camera, and the customer claims they didn't like it or it was poor quality they are refunded at the operators expense. We allow reprints if the camera shows print failures and we allow refunds if the camera shows poor quality both at the operators expense. If the operator doesn't position the camera correctly to identify a quality successful print we will refund the customer at the operators expense if there is a dispute. The operator can reject a job that comes in to the queue and 3dteleprint can reallocate it or print it ourselves. Designers and operators get paid providing the customer doesn't reject the part or if a good product was produced determined by the captured images. We can track all customer complaints and will identify those that become a problem. We will eventually allow machine operators to reject specific parts or parts uploaded by specific designers. For the time being an operator can reject any part that arrives in their queue by any customer that id sent to us for redistribution or creation. 3dteleprint has the ability to reprint disputes and will do so if necessary to save the sale wherein 3dteleprint acts as the operator and the designer still gets paid. We will contact operators with low satisfaction results from multiple customers to see if we're able to understand and identify the problem. If an operator is unable/unwilling we will brick their wingman. Upon returning the equipment they will receive $200 back. 3dteleprint will reach out to designers with high operator rejections rates to identify areas of improvement, remove a particular, or remove the user's ability to upload. This approach allows designers and machine operators to build a reputation with each other and the end user customer but does unfortunately require 3dtelerpint to integrate itself as the entity to hold the operators and designers accountable ensuring the end user customer remains happy. An alternative approach also discussed, we will soon integrate, does not require designs to come from 3dteleprint repository and eliminates our need to participate in the transaction or set any rules or boundaries on designers or operators allowing us to be a b2b product. This model however has drawbacks, Essentially the per print price/price per machine make/model/material type would be lost for designers and potentially increases our IP liability exposure if the operators circulate and reproduce the object file. Let me know your thoughts,

oof I'm wanting to like this, but a) no BBL (what the?) not even Prusa XL? Prusa XL owners are probably the most prime owners, as well as orange storm giga and kobra max owners... I'm just trying to imagine the sequence of events where you have to handle and deliver? I would only like it better if I could print a label and SHIP it somewhere with a fedex/ups pickup and I don't have to drive anywhere nor have people coming to my house. that costs money of course. I just don't see how this can be better than going with like PCBWay or similar print on demand service for the customer. for the printer owner... mayyyyybe it could be cool for farm owners but prosumer owners of older machines might want to participate but i think the resource and money pool just runs too shallow to make this work longterm.
@SquarishLink
@SquarishLink 2 месяца назад
This idea is okay, the problem comes with both the pricing and interacting with the client. At first people will simply underprice their time and work necessary to get shit printed, people will request projects that the printer owner doesnt understand and non stop failures and issues. What will need to be done is the people who wish to use their printers with this project must be approved. If you have anyone and everyone doing this then bamn, lowest cost will win every time and it will degrade the reputation and eventually cause the whole system to be forgotten.
@3dteleprint881
@3dteleprint881 2 месяца назад
As more designers and machine operators join the ecosystem, the lowest price does not become the choice. The best results and potentially cheapest will always come from the designer of a particular part who also has a Wingman. The magic of 3d printing is not in the design alone or the slicer settings alone, it is in the combination of them together. What you say is true when sending a design to a Wingman that was uploaded by a different user. Our goal is to find the best designers in the world that know how to design for additive manufacturing. There is a best gcode file for every design, machine, material combo and we intend to find it!

It probably depends on how much local business you'll have. That is one major downside I didn't think of. Since you're relying on local demand, it's possible there's very little demand in any given area. That's something else to think about. As much as I want to believe in this idea, I feel like it's got some glaring flaws that people are definitely seeing, and the Wingman team maybe isn't doing enough to show that they see them, too. Consequently, I don't think there's a lot of hope for this project.

The wole idea is a non sense. First part: decentralizing the desiner and manufacturing. Oky a free google drive have that feature. Second part: (what is unclear) so u buy 1 modul for 1 printer (if this is the case) oky then with a pi u can run 4 klipper instance (4 printer for cheaper) quing is possible in klipper. Before sliceing queing in the mentioned google drive. Or in exel.... If we trying to see in bigger perspective: Why the hell prusa using local network only? No chance of breaking in. Also: who some one who buyed a machine, learned (just a littlebit) abouth 3d printing (FDM in this case) he/she propably know its limit. If we see from manufacturing side: "Yeah i can modell it." "Yeah but its gonna fail here, here and here" the machine can do it, etc... Looking for local printer part..... Man we dont liveing in stone age. In your version the stl's are circulated. In ours they are not. We'll eventually get the price down or create a smaller cheaper version for locations with many 3d printers that communicate with one wingman on the same LAN. It will always be best to send a design to a designers wingman.
