A quick look at two AM sets from HGW for the Hansa Brandenburg W12 and W29 kits from Wingnut Wings. Are they worth getting?? You decide??

Watched this because I just pulled the trigger on a W.12 kit. You’re spot on with your review, in my opinion Nigel. I’d really only need the fabric seatbelts and engine grill, the rest of the AM sets seem superfluous and would extend the total build time with little payoff in return. 🍀

Thanks for the review and shout out. The HGW sets look very nice but apart from the engine grill, my W.12 kit had everything either nicely moulded in plastic or already supplied as PE. I do like the fabric seat belts, but once you button up that interior you’ll see bugger all. So the Wingnut Wings PE ones wil do just fine for me. Wood panel stickers? Hmmmm. I had fun painting my own wood grain effects which again, apart from the dashboard and parcel shelf with the ammo, are pretty much hidden once you button up the fuselage. I’d sell that aftermarket set and put the money to a new Wingnut Wings kit! Subbed.

Harry Houdini Models I agree with every word, other than the belts. The HGW belts are awesome. I was looking at the kit last night after my review and noticed the moulding on the engine covers with the open grilles is some of the best I’ve ever seen. I think the PE flaps and panels may look better than moulded parts when painted, but really, how much better?? Wood panel stickers?? Depends if you are a modeller or you put kits together I guess?? Seems these days so many companies are making AM that we really don’t need.

Sorry thought id replied.Half asleep.I promised harry id get out of my comfort zone and try WnWs 2 years ago.Shame no metal blued exhaust manifold for my pfalz.Why cant copper state make one.Resin isnt my favourite substance.Unless we are talking HPH Models.As for woodgrain,it looks exagerated,but remember its all light fast growing timber.And they used to cut it into sheets for strength in different ways,like veneer.To behave in different ways.So it will be a bit bigger than the norm.But that decal looked out of scale.g/l d

Sure i saw that kit the other night on ebay,i noticed a 'Duellists' kit with a fighter and a bomber,more like a "Bang bang! Your dead!' Kit.The junkers and red baron entry kits look good,but im scared of choosing the wrong sopwith camel kit.'I should have got the other one' would ruin the experience.I went for the nearest kit to £80 and bought the Pfalz DXII 32019.Im going to aftermarket anything improvable.So any suggestions would be welcome.Im new to aircraft aftermarket.The choices for armour is overwhelming.ROCHM MODELS are so good for german armour,ive been spoiled so long.Well going back to look out of window with dog and wait for the postman or finish the exhaust valves and covers with PE and brass rods.

Good choice with the Pfalz. You might have gone for the Fokker D.VII with no rigging as a first kit???? If I were you, i would build that Pfalz OOB with the kit recommendations for control lines and rigging and see how she comes out. I don't thin k the PE is really a neccesity, more of a nice to have?
