You had many opportunities to just use the spoonbill to get a free card but would pick up the platform bird with your regular draw then reset the tray and get nothing. That extra card from the deck could be any of the great birds you put out there with the resets! Also you can use it to deny cards in the tray without having to pick them up, you can just burn them with the reset
I cringed when you kept keeping worms you didn’t need, then opponent got a cache & continuously not picking up nectar. However, I liked that you posted the video anyways. With all the new nectar rules and new birds it is easy to make mistakes. This just shows you are human. I love your content!
thank you! Yea, there's so much more to pay attention to. I still mess up during the game end sequence... when are nectars discarded, do EORs score before or after game end etc.
Even if grassland strategy dies, that's one dead, but a dozen new ones brought to life. I've made plays and calculations in OE that I never would have in EE. Each game becomes more unique, and nectar adds more interactivity between players.
@@tuckNcache True. I’m not as experienced as you or Flan by any means, but I’ve found that I still tend to do well with a lot of the birds that were already good there, plus the extra egg birds, Oceania’s new predators, and the Galah
Yes, Nectar cheapens the whole game. It is to easy to come by and too valuable. It lessons the value of the grassland. With nectar it’s about big point birds, brown power cards that provide you an asset, preferably 2, such as tuck one lay an egg, and end of round/game powers. If nectar is being used it is a whole new game, nothing like base game at all. I play with some friends weekly. We have eliminated nectar and all cards that refrence nectar and we use the base game board. I love the new birds just don’t care for the ease at which nectar is obtained.
I hear you that nectar is a massive power creep but I also have noticed that nectar makes the game a hell of a lot more complex. The Oceania expansion opens the ceiling for this game a lot more and it was definitely a gameplay shock at first, but now I love it. Nectar ditching at end of round forces you to plan out how you will use it a lot more and the yellow powers are also way more interesting.
The OE board though helps a lot to reduce the grassland engines dominance especcially with forest engines. We are currently trying out having nectar simply as just another resource for the view birds that need it and ignore it otherwise.
