Something worth noting in the Splendid Fairywren is that is says "less than 30 cm" instead of "30 cm or less". There are a surprising amount of birds that have a wingspan of exactly 30cm that don't count for this. Learned that the hard way

the australian raven is basically the bonelli's eagle for your excess food. It's hardly ever a bad idea to use this card. Also it can go in any row which is even better

Can you do a video Top 5 birds from base/europe that became worse with oceania and Top 5 birds from base/europe that became better with oceania? Maybe together with tayray?

What's really complicated is the nectar disappears before the end game birds like the A. Raven can cache them. Also the end game powers do not count towards the end of round goals, so those eggs don't even help with those, they're just extra points. I could be wrong but I think the bonus cards are calculated and locked before the end game birds activate, so the extra eggs etc won't count towards the bonus cards - in one game I put a kite over a card with a cup nest and the cup nest bonus card was not affected. Do I have that right?

I’m probably 20 games deep into OE and so far have been underwhelmed by game end powers. The fact that they activate after the last round goal is counted is a big nerf. The white when played egg laying birds have that great utility of getting you round goal surprise wins, then all of a sudden you’re going from 5 additional points from the extra eggs to 12 when you count a round goal win. These also feel like they have a smaller viable window of playing. In rounds 1-3 I only play them as a last resort since I otherwise lose so much momentum. White and teal powers can gain you resources throughout the game rather than discarding surplus resources at the end for point bombs. The Australian magpie may be the worst of these. The earlier you play it the better chance you’ll have adjacent columns filled in to maximize its point gain, but again you’re missing out on what could be a brown power that gets you 8 points throughout the game and extra resources. In OE I’ve found that a big difference maker in games are the birds you get down in slots 2-3 in each habitat. Slots 2-4 have some flexibility as you place birds down but playing something like the Australian magpie in slot 3 in round 2 is just so much worse imo than even like a burrowing owl that has a week brown power.
