Tripp Hammett the follow on review is up with the unboxing video of the CRKT Freyr Norse Axe. It’s an amazing knife, and I really want to get another one soon. Many more reviews to do before I get another Winkler knife though.
@@edcblades5435 wow thank you! How do you feel this compares to the belt knife? Is the blue ridge hunter the right size or does it leave you wanting a bit more?
Tripp Hammett I haven’t handled the belt knife, so I can’t compare them, but I can see wishing it was a little long for camping but for EDC I think it’s perfect.
Isaac the Noob Backwoodsman, first off, great name. Second, I would like a Field Knife also. I love the Blue Ridge for EDC but when I go into the woods, I do wish I had something a little longer to work with. I have been looking at some other knives to review with regards to camping and hiking, like the ESEE 4/5 and the Case Winkler Recurve Utility No.6. It's hard to buy it though, because I'm afraid I will like it more than my Blue Ridge. Thanks for watching.
Nice video, enjoy your enthusiasm! I believe the sheath is kydex covered in leather. Do you typically EDC mid sized fixed blades like this?Would be interested to hear your opinion on the edge holding ability of the 80CRV2 compared to CPM 3V.
Victor Sein Thanks you sir, I appreciate you watching the video and commenting. I am very excited about the Winkler, so the enthusiasm is real. I love this knife. I don’t carry it every day, but I do carry it as often as possible. It has held up very well, including the edge. I don’t have any knives with CPM 3V steel, so I will have to look into getting one to review. Anything in particular you’d like to see?
3V will hold an edge longer but a lot of people find it difficult to sharpen. 80CRV2 is a tried a proven great choice for a user blade that’s made to take a beating. Lots of guys who forge and make the bigger bowies and fighters use 80CRV2.
@@edcblades5435 Thank You for the reply! I’ve personally been looking at Spartan Blades, who make a lot of stuff in S45VN now. I also enjoy Bark River knives, which have many offerings in 3V
@@VSStriker I have been looking at some Spartan Blades recently too. I will have to keep an eye out for one that looks awesome, has S45VN steel, and isn't too pricey. Thanks for the reply
Matthew King, thanks for the comment, and I agree with you on that Winkler. I keep thinking about getting another one, but it’s hard to justify spending another $400 on a knife that’s only a little different than the one I already have.
I ordered one 2 months months ago, shipping time was 12-16 weeks. It has been shipped and am getting it next week. Can't wait!! Any update on how it's held up and what you have used it for?
Jason Katz34 This thing is awesome! My wife has started to complain about how often she catches me drawing it for the smallest job. She also doesn't like that I keep looking at another one, a Case Winkler Recurve that's pretty pricey, but looks awesome.
@@edcblades5435 thanks for the response. My girlfriend is already annoyed with me just talking about it, lol. I have wanted a Winkler for a decade! Glad you are annoying it.
My Winkler came to me with worst edge I've ever seen! Using a Wicked Edge I was able to reprofile the edge, but it did take time. I loved the scabbard, but the edge was disgustingly dull, especially for the price charged!!!!
Jamestreeman That's very odd. Did you contact Winkler and let them know? Might be able to send it back for a refund or to get it fixed. Thanks for watching.
Ok so we are over 2yrs in since you got it and posted video. Has she forgiven you yet for calling her gullible? Just thought I'd check in.... cause I think you got a few years left respectfully. But that Winkler was amazing wasn't it?
Same here, the more I hold it, the more I keep looking for another one to buy. Then I see the price tag, and I start looking at different fixed blades.
Rough Rooster Knife Sharpening Thanks for watching! It's an initial review, just to get my first impressions of the knife. If you haven't already, you should check Winkler Knives out, they're amazing.
Rouch Rooster -reviewing never used items is the best way to determine the true capability of an item before using it. would may be like to see your initial impressions on a vintage japanese water stone
@@biolite7 I don't do initial reviews it's retarded for one I do videos for people to learn off of you know things that this generation does not do and you already know my impressions of Japanese water stones because you went on my channel and tried to find something to troll me with so try to find something else man good luck
