Daniel Winkler takes the viewers through a demonstration of their new Survival Striker Wilderness knife. With a limited first run, these knives will definitely sell quickly. Sculpted G10 or Contoured Micarta handles will be available, with a tumbled black oxide finish. Sharp spine for striking an included ferro rod that stows away in the handle. A gorgeous kydex sheath with multiple carry configurations rounds out the kit.

I own 2 Winkler Knives and I absolutely love them. They are battle tested and they perform! I also own one of his daggers and it's a great defense tool. Winkler Knives are a great addition to my collection. I enjoy swapping them out with some of my other knives, when I'm out in the woods. Great knives, made by a great master bladesmith, in Boone, North Carolina.

I have a kizer pocket knife with a micarta handle and the first time I dropped it got a huge chip in it. I don't understand why people use this material 😕

I wish his operation was a little bigger, so that his offerings could be a little more affordable. Good info.

You shouldn't stop making knives of less quality just so others can afford them he's appreciated because of the quality of the knife. There are plenty of companies having knives produced in Asia that are not good at all. He doesn't and shouldn't go a mass production route.
@pubplays368
@pubplays368 2 года назад
@@jackburmingham6716 Except he is a mass production maker. None of his knives are truly handmade. Lots of machining and bulking going on. Doesn’t take away from his quality. I personally enjoy his knives. But almost no knife maker makes handmade knives anymore. Ex: lt wright, bark river, wrinkler knives etc.

One question I am possibly going to buy a knife from him. I just wanted to know if the wkII line was mid tech custom or production. I am specifically looking at the Winkler Knives WKII Sayoc RnD Full-Size Hawk Axe Maple Tribal. Thank you

Gorgeous blades I didn’t here what steel your using maybe I missed it but would be very interested in what your using guessing it’s 3v which is a great steel personally I prefer a little softer steel like A2 O1 or for stainless AEB-L or cpm154.

If I remember correctly Winkler primarily uses 80crV2. That would be my best guess for this knife as well. Which seems to fit right in with the others you mentioned.

Imagine paying $500 for a $50 knife because some military guys that don't use knives on the job except to cut MREs and definitely don't know about knives say they like them. No doubt, Winkler's knives sell for the price so Winkler would be stupid not to sell them for that price, but come on. If you know anything about steel or good knives you know these knives aren't worth what they cost. Btw, heard nothing but good things about Winkler. I'm not saying he's ripping anyone off. I'm saying you should only buy these knives for the Winkler brand but there are other good guys too selling for much, much less.

Overpriced & now they're serialized with a video included lol? Minimalistic at a major price. Not for me

Not over priced at all for the quality. Any Winkler blade is a cut above the rest including the WKII line. $350-475 for a mid size blade ain't bad when being made by one of th best makers ever in the business. Of my dozen or so "holy grail" blades, 4 are Winklers (2 productions and 2 of his customs). Look at knives like Hogue, ZT (fixed blades), Benchmade (fixed), Spyderco, etc, you're still looking at a couple to a few hundred bucks but not the level of quality. I get that price is a MAJOR factor for many and you can do very well in the bush, military or as a LEO by carrying an Esee 4-6, Ontario RAT5 or Afghan, Becker BK2, BK7, BK16, Gerber LMFII, Scrap Yard Syco, tons of TOPS knives models or even a Cold Steel SRK or SOG Seal Pup. But once you start comparing those to the blades made by guys like Winkler, Busse (now that's were overpricing is), Scott Gossman, Bill Siegle, Chris Reeve, Spartan Blades, Grayman Knives, Fiddleback Forge, and other custom/semi custom makers there's no comparison. Knives are one place where you the "you get what you pay for" couldn't be more true. I had at one point around 450 knives with the first 400 being crappy catalog knives or even late night "knife show" bundle buys where I got 15 fixed blades for $80 or something then I slowly starting inching up in quality and I went from the point of thinking $125 for a knife was nuts to the point where I would gladly hand over $400 and wait 6 months for a knife to be made and say thank you in the end. But to each it's own in the end I'm just saying that the price for the Winkler knives like the Field knife, Belt knife of Camp knife are very reasonable for the level of quality , especially when he could do a Busse and make us pay another 20% for the name.

@@brewcitymike1 This looks to be a great knife. In re: cheaper options. If you like this one, take a look at the Hogue EX-F01. A2 steel with cerakote and holds a great edge. More tactical than this model, but I've been very impressed with it.

People that know and use knives in the outdoors don't carry anything within their knife. Frankly, doing so is reminiscent of the original Rambo film. The knife was a joke! The in handle gimmick is ridiculous! Nobody that truly uses knives, and survival gear, would take that crap seriously! Really? I'd call that model the Winkler Joke!

Send them an email and tell them what you want to purchase. They will confirm your email order. His knives are made to order. Wait...4-8 weeks and they will send you an email for you to pay and then you’re knife ships...this man has a ton of integrity...I met him at blade show which is where I purchased mine and I waited 10 months for blade show to come so I could buy it in person. Definitely worth the wait!
