It was another dart that was in short supply too from the Winmau launch, hopefully shops are fully stocked now!

I mostly like straight barrels, but I have always wanted to try his darts. I always check them out when they show a closeup of his darts in the board.

Another great review Darren was having a sort out of my darts stuff today and discovered I have a set of Gold King darts, forgot just what a great set of darts they are. I look the look of the new ones but maybe to grippy for me!

Good evening! The grip within the scallops is what makes these special edition I think. I wouldn’t take a chance on online ordering these. I would rathe be able to go to a dart shop and give them a proper go first. Your gallery is on point as usual! Cheers from New York!

@@DartsReviewChannel darts arrived today and they are a lovely dart to throw. Yes the scalloped sections are narrower than the width of my thumb when holding the dart but it still gives you a point to hold the dart in the same position every time you take out out of your serving hand. Very impressed so far.

I have the soft tip version of these darts I love them a really good dart and my scoring has seemed to improve whilst using them.

I have the smooth version of these in 21g. Love them they feel great. just a little light for me. I play at 23-24g. but my god the grip even smooth is so nice. Very consistent grip every time.

I recently bought these and struggle with the grip. My thumb (can't see how anybody's would) does not sit solely within any one scallop. Therefore whatever grip I adopt the 'knuckle' is felt. I had an issue with finding the right throwing style for the grip I prefer in order for them to 'fly' nicely through the air, though the knuckle can be beneficial in terms of forward thrust. I also find that I have to adopt different grip positions depending on whether I am throwing at a number high on the board or down below to get any consistency. They obviously work for Mervyn and will do for many others, just not for me. Everyone is different. Like with all darts, finding what suits you is a case of trial and error.

No I dont think the full width of the thumb will as such, mine is around 24mm at its widest so it covers one half of the dart. But I dont quite have the widest part of my thumb holding the dart, its more a kind of cross angle over the tip, which sits more into the scallop for me but not my total thumb, probably never explained what I meant properly in the vid I guess :) I have tried some very weird shaped darts over the years and as you say its all about what the individual feels comfy with in the end, but its probably also why standard straight barrel ring grip darts are more predominant, must just suit people more as less faff with them :)

@@DartsReviewChannel ......I fall into this category. I have been using the no frills, two ringed, uniform all along the barrel, Designa Dark Thunder darts for a while now, and it is precisely the 'less 'faff' with them' aspect which is why I like them so much. No matter where I grip the dart, the 'feel' is the same and the flight path very similar. Therefore I can concentrate on my target on the board on throw release rather than worrying how the dart is feeling in my hand at the point of letting go. But, that is just me, everyone to their own tastes.

i got the softip SE version about 2 months ago, and they perform very nice, I am a midddle/front gripper. the black finish really last, but the red paint details not......

It really pisses me off when you pay £40 plus for darts that are 3/10 of a gram off match weighting, especially when Dorts Corner or Designa can turn them out spot on for £16! Can you send them back to Winmau?

I have a lot of joint problems, had a bad shoulder break some years ago and was around 18 months before I could even lift my arm properly to throw again, was never the same after that though. Then I broke my hand and that affected my release. I have problems with my wrist and fingers and other joints like knees, ankles, feet and back.

I am fairly new to darts and I only have 2 set of darts by winmau including this set. I gotta say I am very disappointed with the quality of winmau products. My Mervyn King special edition has a bad thread which is too wide to hold anything tight (even with O rings, the shaft is wobbling), and the black coating is two toned on one barrel. My another set is Aspria, the coating is not complete on one barrel and it is bad weight matched. I only have 7 sets of darts, and winmau is definitely worse is quality.

Totally agreed! I have the same problem with Winmau.. I have the same issues with my Steve Beaton darts. I tried switching to Bottelsen darts (shark grip), but these are expensive and qualitywise not perfect... so now I am trowing Shot and Target.. see what suits best.. Hope you find your right set!

But unfortunately the shape is not my cup of tea with my current grip. Ironically, I got the best scores with these wobbly Mervyn King special which makes me frustraded...

@@keithtong1146 its all about the experience you have, you have not had a good one but others may have been luckier and got sets that have been better. These brands make so many sets that its always going to be the case some duff ones get through. But from what you have said I dont think I would be too impressed with the brand after having so many duff ones. I have bought lots and lots of darts over the years though so I see bad darts from all brands but some are definitely better than others. Lately though Winmau seems to be having the same issues as Unicorn, too many people complaining about the kind of problems you have experienced which is not good.
