Nice! I have an old pioneer in my stereo cabinet that i turned the speed way up on which i use just for rewinding. (Sounds like garbage, low end deck with tons of flutter) Not as fast as yours though, mine rewinds a 90 in about 45 seconds. Surprisingly it doesnt break my tapes. For playing/recording i use a sony tc-k615s.
I use semi pro Tascam 2,4,8 track decks, Most will rew a tape in 75-85 seconds, and thats per Tascam spec. I dont think there is a benefit to having the tape going too fast because it causes unnecessary stress and torque. When it reaches the end it will have a big jolt to the whole mechanism and that cant be good. Gotta be gentle with these old classics. :)
Frame by frame, no silver tape. So not automatic, i.e. you just put a motor to the spindle and cranked it up. Then stopped it. Pathetic waste of 30 seconds.
