Making Pooh the killer was the biggest mistake. Surely if Pooh and Pals are going to be in a horror film they are the group of friends who have to escape the scary monster/killer/whatever? Adapt the Heffalump chapter from the original book and put a horror twist on it. Show Pooh and Piglet trying to escape from a Heffalump and build lots of tension and atmosphere and keep it ambiguous as to whether the Heffalump is real or just a figment of their imaginations

My mom truly asked me to watch Winnie the Pooh blood and honey with her and my step dad a couple weeks ago, we knew it would be awful but she was like “you used to love Winnie the Pooh as a little kid” and the three of us basically went mystery science theater on the movie and took turns riffing the entire damn thing. I don’t think my mom and I laughed as hard as we did in a long time when at the end pooh grows like 2 feet. Starts just doom guy ripping and tearing on these people, summons bees to swarm some guy and then speaks for the first and only time in the movie and says “you left” to Christopher. My step dad looks at us and says “I wouldn’t be surprised if you both just lost 20 IQ points watching this trash because I feel dumber sitting here with you guys” 🤣 I have no doubts snob had fun watching this movie

This movie feels like it was made during that early-to-mid-2010s era of dark and gritty reboots (e.g. Snow White and the Huntsmen, Maleficent, Clash of the Titans 2010), but wasn't released until several years after. Also, nice to see one of the movies that constitute the recent trend of "memesplotation" - movies that only exist to have memes made out of them.

@mirrorforce8025
@mirrorforce8025 7 месяцев назад
Maybe Eeyore's death is meant to signify something. The saddest of them all, he might not have it in him to kill, and certainly not to object when his friends cast him as their final resort to starvation. They still hold a grave of him, which shows they still mourn. They use his infamous tail as a means to punish Christopher Robin later in the film, right after Winnie the Pooh has that breakdown with CR. As if to allow Eeyore a form of revenge as well.

The Heffalumps could have stampeded the forest, the people could have set traps to catch Pooh and Piglet, and Pooh could have sent bees to attack the people. C’mon! Also, total side note- but because Brad has a kid now, does that mean that he’ll have to review those weird Baby Geniuses movies now? They are absolutely terrifying! I feel like more effort went into the thumbnail for this review than the actual movie. One of the most hilarious things about this was the director's press tour. He was getting attention he never got before and suddenly seemed to think he was a big shot director. He behaved as though this was some kind of passion project when he admitted over and over again that the movie only got made because they wanted one of their films to go viral.

After all these months I suddenly had a thought. Why couldn't the movie have been about Pooh and Friends helping to protect people from Woozles. Like make them super monstrous and maybe have some serious scenes with Pooh that you play completely straight. Like him telling the humans what happened to Rabbit or someone. Plus you could make the Woozles smart in mimicking people to drive them insane and isolate them. I mean it wouldn't be a great film but it would show more creativity.

It was, to me a great example of how you can keep the innocent simplicity of the Disney Pooh series... but also make it really REALLY funny: like Pooh is character comedy gold at it's best! ALSO... it was Disney's last hand drawn film to date... and given how low the budget was it's tragic it couldn't even make that back in theatre...

@ AH yes, I guess that WAS owned by Disney. THOUGH that was more 2d puppet-rig than hand drawn, so I feel it doesn't count. THOUGH it was also a very low-budget film, which makes it also tragic it couldn't turn a profit: All it needed was 76 mill! I THINK though that might've been more about how people were slow moving ot return to theatres after Covid... I do wonder if it would've made it's money after people got more into the habit of movie going

Loved the Sledge Hammer reference, Brad! Haha, I used to consider that the worst movie I'd ever seen...until I watched Ax 'Em! I found Sledge Hammer on clamshell VHS at my local video store for $2 back in 2000 or so, and man was it terrible! Very obscure, forgotten shot-on-shitteo. My ex-wife, brother-in-law, and a couple of his friends had a plan to make a sequel, but it never got made, haha!

So, they started to starve because Christopher Robin wasn't around to feed them....what did they do for food before he showed up?

It's going to be great when you sit down with little Jack and watch Caligula together

Oh my god. I never thought I'd want to see Brad delve into the insane world of children's entertainment, but holy shit, am I ready for this new era of total snobbery.

I've been waiting for this review so I don't have to watch the movie. Thank you for your sacrifice, Brad.

This isn't exactly what I had in mind for a Winnie the Pooh horror movie I thought pooh-bear would be more like a victim than a killer.

Aw, and here I was hoping you would review "It's Alive" (1974) to celebrate the occasion.

Know what kid's show COULD work as a gritty reboot? Captain Scarlet. Anyone remember that show? That was already dark. Also, anyone else expecting a Jagged Edge horror movie of Thomas the Tank Engine when THAT goes public domain?

The movie would've been so much better if it was entirely animated in the intro style!

I didn't know about those other films this company made but I did know that the director of this plans on making a sequel and a Peter Pan horror film.
