It's probably just a brain thing misinterpreting patterns. Generally in positions in which people allow you to take that pawn, the bishop's defending the knight, so the rook moves with tempo on the queen, maybe the queen gets trapped, and so on. But what really happened is the opponent was acting on principle of not ever giving Eric his gambit. If you can take a Rook with check against Eric, look for some other move that doesn't take free material!

Eric you are definitely the most entertaining chess streamer and content creator when you're playing like this. It shows your humanity and charisma, but also what a creative beast you are. It's trippy and exhilarating at times. You have the same competitive nature and informative/direct temperament that I do, yet it still blows my mind that you talk joke, commentate, and draw arrows in what has turned chess into an APM sweaty game. I believe that you shape the things you do to fit your interest, rather than letting their general essence define you. I suspect there are very few things suppressing your ability to do this at the highest level, but I relate if you feel apprehensive to sacrifice this joyous freedom to work to do so. Anyway, I hope you become a GM, or get whatever you want in this world, because you're awesome.
