Hey Holly that's a good question. Nick the owner of the boats also does welding and fabrication so he welds all those holders for us aswell and building arches for other boats that want them done up! It's not really a thing it was just a temp clip for lead cores. Guys do it for offshore fishing down south but with shorter rigs

Hey John its just a leadcore let out all the way to the backing and then clipped into a scotty clip attached to the downrigger boom. I usually only run short lead cores like 6 and shorter because the chance of tangling is pretty high if a rigger pops.

Its not a normal operation for us to be honest. I was mostly just having fun with it lol

@@danthefisher my guess would be the issue of holding the fish from the lower jaw , unsupported, and then releasing, there are lots of studies that show there is a high mortality. with a much greater chance of them dieing , vs someone else being able to catch them again, might as well keep them, or at least keep them in the net and let review in the water, just a though
