A few clips from a 3-day weekend ice fishing for Lake Trout and camping in an Adirondack Lean-to. Had planned to use the hot tent but it rained a lot and temperatures didn't necessitate it.

Awesome video. Looks like some great fishing there. That storm sure snapped us back into winter up here. Been cold ever since.

Thx Badger, we worked hard for the fish but did catch good numbers. Glad we hooked into some keepers as well and managed to enjoy a local supper.

James Lane thx, Jim 😊 Those were mostly Lake Trout with a small mouth bass mixed in at the first bite. The laker was good eating most went back under the ice to grow.

Awesome. You had a full array of Adirondack weather conditions over your stay. I really liked the video shots of the mist/fog hanging over the ice. Which did you prefer eating the Laker or Smelt? Personally I'm not a fan of the taste of Lake Trout. Next time try frying the whole smelt...no need to clean the little ones IMO.

J. Kelly Nolan: Outdoors The mixed weather made the trip all the more interesting. The fried smelt were hard to beat. My last laker I marinated and put in my lil chief smoker and that came out great, this one was tasty enough pan fried with onion and mushrooms. Maybe I'd bread and fry smaller pieces next time to hide some of the fishy flavor. It was great to get out and see a new spot.

Great vid, I recognize the location, I see they moved the lean-tos back a bit. I’ve never had the luck you guys did, nice job man!

CaineBroderick cool, it sure was a pretty spot. Trick is to jig for smelt and bait them on your tipups. We fished it hard dawn to dusk.

Hard to beat a winter thaw; no biting bugs while cleaning fish, and no spiders lurking in the outhouse! What alcohol do you like to use in the stove-- yellow Heet , denatured,...?

robert white right on. although some deep cold would have been nice with quality gear to stay warm. The stove was burning yellow heet.
