I had a woodstove for 30 years. I miss it so much. But it wasnt my primary heat source. People forget how much work a wood stove requires.

Are used to have a large number of houseplants, and now I have none. Seeing all the varieties in the greenhouse has made me want to go and explore. I’m particularly interested in researching the care of staghorn ferns and perhaps getting a few. I’ve always been fascinated by their shape. A little tip about cactus. Don’t water in winter and plenty of drainage. If you repot use only cactus soil. 🌵

I was so excited to see Charlie take on jumping through a hoop. He picked that up so fast. I can't imagine what else you have planned for him. Some dogs just want to lie around like my little Rudy! Charlie has been much better bonding with you and, I think it's because you are not distracted with so much that there is not enough time for him plus, he is the only one getting all the attention, in your home. That's a really good thing. When you talked bout the days getting a bit longer, you are right. Thanks for pointing that out. It is ten minutes to five and I can see across the street! Don't these grey days go on too long? I am a cooler temperature person, living with MS but, I love the sunshine. It puts a smile on your face, it perks you right up and, you just need to get outside. I love Thrifting, since tuning in to your videos. Sometimes, I just want to go and look around, for something to do and then, I find something! What joy. I think I have more fun finding something used, that I need than investing in something new. Often, I find something made in a country that once was popular but has been replaced by so much from China. Don't get me wrong, if I am looking for something Chinese, I want it made in China! I have a spare, small bedroom, in my apartment. I don't really need it so, I have housed all my beloved house plants in there and, now, it is my green room! I want to find a second hand wing back chair to place in there so I can knit, read or, write letters while sipping on a herbal tea. Thanks for sharing this happy video.❤

I've been on hibernation mode too Kate these past few months. Today in GA, its unseasonably warm at 72 degrees, hot, muggy, humid, stormy, it's very tornado soup-ish. Keeping our eyes peeled to the skies. Last week it was like 20 degrees with windchillof 10 degree. Unreal wacky weather. I've enjoyed the days getting ever so slightly brighter at 5pm. Charlie did great with his hoops😁💕

Charlie is a smart little boy! We are building a tiny cottage for our retirement. Our main source of heat will be a wood stove, but we’ll have a small propane furnace for backup.

I live in a small (50 square metre) very old(200 yrs old) stone house, i bought 8yrs ago here in the mountains in central Europe with no central heating, thank God, as i hate it, with only a wood stove, my trusty Ms Goldie😂. I love it and actually it's healthier as we need to be uncomfortable, especially regarding heat, plus it's better to sleep in a cool room, just check the sleep podcast...when it gets into -7 Celsius, i sleep in front of the wood stove with a mountain of blanket, hot water bottle and my two cats😊. Every time i visit a friend who has a central heating, i feel suffocated. Not only no central heating but i don't have a car or electricity, not even solar panels, just this old mobile phone with a limited access to internet..i charge it at a friend's house...😂❤❤

Thrift store and plant store visits keep me sane in the winter months.

I enjoyed the visit.....your precious dog, sweater shopping with twinkle lights, and the new little plant. And what a cool orange dress! But the snow and cold weather has turned me off for now with the many problems here in Memphis. TN where I live. Our water lines broke under ground causing low water pressure, many without water, and all having to boil water for three minutes to drink and wash dishes for almost a week. And we could not wash clothes or take a bath. Then, there was too much use of power so we could not cook or use major appliances. Wow! Wish I had a log burner or a working fireplace. I guess many had the same weather related problems. So glad it is over for this round. Still winter is sure to bring more extremes. For a week now it has been warm with rain, rain, rain, with dark skies. Good to see you and looking forward to next time with hopes of high hoop jumps!! Big grin!!

I'm 65 and love ur channel I have always been a country girl. 7 years ago I lived in a old home 100 years old as my now home is. The town had 300 people I. It which was just fine for me. I lived in the heart of the town which I loved. We had a thrift store and I always went in shopping. I think if u do more thrift store and how to decorate. Boho is so in rite now. Hi, just wanted to drop a comment and let you know the hubby and I just came back from spending the day at Smith College Botanical Gardens. We go to different green houses and indoor gardens throughout the winter. Magic Wings is one of the other winter escapes we enjoy. We are so thankful for such places that help us get through the bleak season. Also, we visited Goodwill yesterday and I found some great deals on some cozy never worn brand name sweaters! It has been a particularly gray winter where I'm at as well, it's been a struggle and I always appreciate when something genuinely makes me smile and warms my heart. This video inspired me to take off my uncomfortable jean shorts (as I have gained some weight since last summer) and put on a colorful and roomy dress I picked up from the thrift store last week. We should feel beautiful and comfortable at any age and any size.

Plant therapy is healing during the winter. Orchids, anthuriums, ferns, iris's, sun patients, and bromeliads.

As the owner of a wood stove I understand totally! I used a propane heater this year and life has been so much easier. But I'm still gonna have that wood stove going for *ambiance* lol Jane says "Hi Charlie"

Your cottage home is so cozy. Those hanging orange slices still look pretty. They last a long time. It's great that the days are getting longer but now all my outdoor light timers need adjusting. Girrrrl, I got 4 beautiful tops (one very peasant-like) at our local Community Aid store today for just under $20. I am so happy with my purchase and so glad I took your advice. Thank you for another wonderful video. You have such a beautiful, sweet smile:) I have a little chi mix who also loves her hoops. Charlie is a smart little guy. He has the sweetest face too. You will do fine with the cactus. Just let it dry out really, really well and provide lots of good light. I learned after losing a few from overwatering. (I used to water them when watering my other plants, thinking my cactus was dry enough, but that does't work! Let it get bone dry and then still don't water. Then after a few days of that, you can water:)

I live in beautiful surroundings, mountains and snow right now but also the sky has been so cloudy-plus we are high up so have been in the clouds/fog for most of December and January. I'm ready for El Niño to be over! Glad you found some fun items on your shopping trip. The lights will look amazing in your yard!

Don't over water your succulents. I water mine once a month in the winter. In the summer every two weeks. Looking forward to seeing Charlie complete in a dog show. He loves to train. Training is the hard part and he loves it.

Charlie’s progress is amazing! What fun for him and you and us! I hear you about the wood-burning stove. I lived for four years with that as my only heat source. Though I used to just joke that chopping wood heated me up as well. It’s good to be able to build a fire, but I admit the mess of ashes was challenging. There are a lot of wonderful, wood-burning fire boxes out there though, so if I had my ideal home, it would be solar powered with a little airtight fireplace as well. I feel like I am happier when I get to stare into a fire.

Treats ready and the training began. Ben did great because he also loved food lol. But sometimes he decided not to go through the hoop but simply around it. Just because he was a clown. What a delight as always to watch. I kept your video for a relaxing cup of tea. Very much needed after a weird nothing went right day, but still interesting. The heating thing. My goodness yes. I have bought myself a mini medieval 'manor' (read tiny house) and it has no heating. Luckily though it does have thick walls. The very real advantage of medieval. They retain the heat of even a tiny portable radiator amazingly!
