Rite in the rain notebooks are outstanding, I ran my through the washer by accident and it was 100% Unfazed. If it can survive almost an hour in the washer a storm or creek ain’t gunna do a thing to your notes.
Lol! I see your a light bug also. I’m always gifting flashlights. It’s a running gag with the family, especially at Christmas. Nitecore Tiki in every stocking. 😂
I have a boonie hat (military issue) that I use like yours. I have made mods to it to store all sorts of small items both inside and out. A wide-brim hat is an essential piece of kit in my book! For winter, I use an Outdoor Research Goretex Seattle Sombrero that I have also modified for the small items I carry on my hat for EDC.
Nice set up. I change EDC just from town use to outdoor use. I use my pockets and a fanny pack to carry all the small stuff. A mochilla for the larger stuff but do like that haversack. So what I'm missing is the whistle, compass and some zip ties and/or duct tape. Small first aid kit would also be nice for outdoor use. I do love hats and knives and switch and test but always have a SAK as last resort.
If you are ever after an inbetweener hat that does well in a wide variety of conditions an unlined fur felt hat with a couple vent holes might be the sweet spot.
Same here I hate using my main knife for all cuts, I use a gerber EAB lite, I love it and keeps my main blade sharp. And you can just change out the razor when it's dull, I also use the titanium coated blades because they last longer.that kephart spearpoint knife is badazz super good style and great for just about everything!
Another homerun...just curious about a canteen? See the " container" but nothing to carry water in? May I suggest the Swedish Officer Canteen? Used by Big Dave, and Coalcraker bushcraft. Cork canteen with aluminum nesting cup. Smaller than your canteen cup. Can find it at military surplus, "sportsman guide"?? Love mine like 16oz-ish. Inexpensive. Fits in ALL my packs. Cheers..🍻
Hello 👋 my outdoors friend, thank you for sharing your gear review. It looks like you're prepared for just about anything. The best to you. Stay safe and healthy out there. You made some great choices. 👍 🤗
I love my fett green haversack from hiddenwoodsman, but everytime you show that one i get jealous 😅 still wish i picked one of those up when they were available
if you want to water proof your canvas hat to make it 100% water proof use a heat gun and melt bees waxs and perfin waxs mixture i do it with my tarps for camping
People over look cover /hat as edc and bandannas I keep a normal size bandanna in my pocket and a couple larger ones in my 3 day bag..I can't wait to get my email for the snake eater blade
A minor correction to your terminology... You have an empty cartridge casing in the brim of your winter hat, not a bullet. In fact, the main difference is the absence of the bullet.
Love the gear brother . I've gotta get me a SNAKE EATER knife . So well thought out , just waiting on the funds . One thing I always add to my gear in the colder months is a large Tomahawk . Some say they're only good for a fighting tool , but I find them to be very multi purpose. Love the channel !
@@jonNH123 The only thing that concerns me is sharpening the blade, with all of the different angles and all . I'm pretty anal about keeping my knives sharp . Any problems??
Hey put some tape in there. Just in case you need to fix your poncho or get a cut . A sewing kit fishing kit Good video God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.
I replaced my edc knife, swapping out the CRKT Pilar with one of the new Oknife models from Olight, the Drever. it is easy to open one handed which I can not do with the Pilar
Looking forward to the BK62 review! I've been using mine a ton lately. You've got a lot of flashlights haha! Personally, I'd add a boo boo kit to your EDC with some ibuprofen, Benadryl, Band-Aids and Neosporin. EDC videos are fun thank you!!
James-I am ready to pull the trigger on a couple of those lights you have clipped to your hat. Question: did the clip come with the light? If not where’d you get them? Thanks brother. Give Cuervo a brug from me 🤗
You can use the cartridge casing as a survival whistle. Just blow across the top of it like you do with a bottle. Apparently this technique has been lost to history, because the internet only wants us to craft a whistle instead of just whistling with it. Anyway, it's how my Dad's generation used to signal each other when somebody got a deer: the shooter had a freshly-emptied casing, pick it up, blow across the top for a loud whistle. Takes a little practice. Also, use _simple_ not _simplistic,_ which is always bad. "X is a great politician because their simple plans are popular and would work. But Y is a terrible politician because their simplistic plans don't even address the problems, let alone solve them."
In my pack I always carry a milsurp pouch. Inside the pouch is a plastic ziploc bag. Inside the plastic ziploc bag is about a quarter roll of toilet paper. You just never know....
I was going to ask where I could get that first hat. That's a shell casing it's not a bullet. Some great choices in EDC. Liked and subbed. Please stop saying "rockin" you're not a 12yo girl. Ty.
I can understand that, James. I was taught that when the need to deal with an artieral bleed or perform CPR arises, there will be no time to retrieve medical items from a vehicle as every second counts in those situations. Thus a carry a tourniquet / gauze or Israeli bandage / CPR barrier both in my EDC bag or on my person at all times. RATS or CAT tourniquet for the EDC bag and SWAT-T on my person. Just food for thought!
You need a Pen and refills for your Mechanical Pencil. I live in Britain so warm clothing during winter more breathable clothing in the summer but always I wear a jacket even on the hottest of days I will have a jacket, a hat of some sort and the usual Wallet, Phone, Coinage and what most people forget at least one Bag For Life shopping bag just in case I need to go to a Shop or something else to carry like my jacket in warmer weather conditions.
get you a fore seasons felt hat by red head bud a true bushcrafter hat kinda like your's but a little smaller brim you will love it old buddy bass pro shops around 35 bucks yeh baby good hat my brother
