Wow...Love this. I'm in Longfellow in South Mpls. so of course recognize these vantage points. Ford Parkway bridge? And other points along the river as well....Thanks for explaining about Magic Lantern -- the Canon (it's only Canon, right?) firmware upgrade. I have it, too, but didn't know it could line up timelapse images....much in the same way HDR software lines up successive images to account for tiny shifts in perspective?) I was wondering how you could return day after day to the same exact position and angle of view....this takes a tremendous amount of patience and foresight. Hat's off....if you are not doing this professionally....you should be.
simpletech Wow, thanks simpletech, that means a lot, not many people see my stuff. Yeah it's the Ford bridge, I live a couple blocks away by St. Kates college. And magic lantern is amazing for it's built in intervolomiter, but it won't assemble it for you (I use after effects). What was super useful was being able to upload an image onto magic lantern which it would put on the back screen as a 50 percent transparency - allowing me to find the exact place I was earlier in the year and line up the camera exactly. Ug, it did take patience. One of the hardest parts was finding good clouds in winter. I didn't realize that fluffy clouds were a summer thing until I did this project. Winter has little wisps or an all white sky. Thanks again for your kind words. The comments hear are really the only feedback I've had, so I really thank you for taking the time. And now I should probably check out more of your vids. :)
Hi Luka, beautiful shots. How did you match the seasons? Wanted to tell you already for a long time, that I really like GhostFace. It´s one of my beloved submissions in the challenge.
Hey CC, Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. This little video took a Long time to make so when people say nice things it really inspires me to keep making stuff. As for matching the seasons, I had a great deal of help from the firmware Magic Lantern. It has an image overlay function that let me line up the first timelapse with the second. Other than that it was just guessing and remembering. GhostFace was really important for me to make. Storytelling is what I love doing most and having that turn out ok gave me a lot of confidence in making more. I have two more stories in the works. I'm really excited to use my camera in that way. Thanks dearly!
