hey everyone,
So we popped out for a quick session to use up the bait that we had left over from the flounder fish, and I also wanted to have a go using the oysters. It was a stunning evening, but the fishing was very slow. I did save the blank, but really nothing to write home about. I have always said I'll post the good and the bad, and well....thats two bad ones in a row now. Hopefully the fishing will pick up soon.

Dylan a brilliant video as always, A very enjoyable watch . Dylan you will like those casting Canno's , they certainly do save your finger tips. At least it wasn't a blank. That oyster bait looks like a great bait for the Bass

Thanks buddy, really appreciate that. It's been really slow on the island, but it does seem to be picking up. Still haven't put them on, but I'm looking forward to saving my casting finger. Really enjoyed the vid. I’ve had some decent results on that stretch of beach using a three hook dropper (size 2 barbed shank) with about an inch and a half of top quality rag, nipped off at the hook bend. I use the tackle shop up the road from the Bargeman’s Rest in Newport for the rag.

@@FrugalOutdoors thanks bud . I doing ok ta. yeah it’s weird this time of year , only couple weeks ago it was fishing better on the solent side 🤣, bembridge is not a bad shout tho. I like to fish the channel into harbour on the flood , has been some decent bass in the past out of there ! 🎣

Thanks bud. Taking me a while to come to terms with the fact there is a tough time of year. I still expect to catch no matter what, so when it doesn't happen it is a bit of a downer. It does make you try harder the next time though 😉👍👍🎣

Never mind Dylan, it’s always a bit hit & miss this time of year. Even when you have the best bait that money can buy & those oysters that you bound up looked amazing. If you persevered with those I think they will catch you some fish. Better luck next time mate, it won’t be long before the fishing gets a bit more predictable

Those big oyster baits looked great, can’t help but think if there were any big rays around they would have been all over that. Have you ever considered giving a multiplier reel a try? Cracking vid as always mate👍🙂

Cheers mate, I'm definitely going to give them another go, they seem like a fantastic bait. Regarding multis, I haven't ever used one, apart from on a boat, and I'm not sure I fancy casting one. It's enough to think about reeling in a fish with a fixed spool. 😂😂🎣🎣

Mate it's pretty bad isn't it. There seems to be a few fish showing in places on the island now. Specifically where you said about fishing, out the back. I'll have to put some more effort in I think😂😂🎣🎣

Get yourself a finger stall for casting mate.e carp fishermen use them when casting braid can get them on ebay.other than that get yourself a gardenng glove and cut the fingers off all except the one you use for casting and use that.👍👍

The casting cannons take a bit of getting used too, and I found that I lost some of the feel with regard to where the lead was. I use a Fox finger protector, really just a one fingered glove, and it's helped my casting enormously, especially when using braid.
