I was in the aeeu then unite all my working life .if the union executives feel so strongly to reverse the pensioners heating allowance. They should call a 24hr strike to shake reeves up .that's everyone out ! The current members of all the unions plus the leaders are enjoying the benefits that we the older generation fought for when we were working .time to show some backbone like the French do

I left the UNITE union this year after 7 years as a pensioner, the main reason being they sponsor Labour. The unions generally look after their own, an “I’m all right Jack” philosophy, all talk no action. 🐘
If any MP (or other person in the public domain) accepts a freebie one would think that there should be warning signals as to why are they being offered the freebie and what would it look like as it is a huge compromise to their integrity which is open to question and one would think if and when would that ‘friendly gesture’ be brought up by those who gift the freebie in the first place.
I'm a pensioner and lost my winter fuel allowance.labour cabinet members are getting freebies when they are on huge salaries (what is different about them). They are people who think they can take hand outs and hope we the public won't find out.
It’s unbelievable that a Labour Govt would do this to pensioners as a very first policy. Having said that Gordon Brown gave the elderly a 5p raise the last time that they were in power. I guess that the horrible people behind these policies believe that a lot of the pensioners will have shuffled off this mortal coil by the time we get to vote again and that how twisted these people are.

Immigration seems to be getting worse. Loads more foreign unchecked young men walking around in my town looking at phones. It is very intimidating for young girls and old people and no visible police presence. But Labour are OK with this with their free loading. Should the Labour MPS not pay back what they have taken or send the money to charities.?.
No return to austerity for the pensioners it still is and worse , they have given no warning just wiped out the heating allowance three months before they should have got it , they should have said next year you won’t be getting it letting the pensioners try to adjust their money for the cold winter , what sort of government does that a cold callous one done with labour forever .

Unfortunately Labour has changed its spots to globalism and against Nationalism. This means that ordinary people who work and retire want no struggle in old age, however they accept a cut back in spending. Starmer has three times the amount of money and also freebies besides. The gas prices went up and the allowance taken away. That is two whammies at the same time and usually without earnings. They live in fear that there may be other robberies taking place by the Labour Party who gets thousands of pounds given to them. All donations have to be investigated as they are hidden by the rules of privacy, however the person has to put down the amounts for parliamentary proceedings .Starmer does not like democracy, and has to be kept in line by these rules. The Tories always were secretive about off shore tax havens, but their amounts of freebies and money are not amounting to the huge sums of donations for Labour and himself. It mocks the situations of OAPs with about 15 K .
The amount of money these politicians earn should be enough for them to pay for their own stuff…..many parents on much lower incomes don’t have the luxury of handouts (bribes)….. scrap expenses & freebies & struggle like most of the people do….or like a lot of us go without 😂
The `smoke and mirrors` we keep getting is that we pensioners are receiving some £1700 extra on our pensions over three years. (Don`t ask me why three years is in the equation). What they do not say is that 3 X £300 annual WFA WITHDRAWN from pensioners means we will get around £800 over 3 years, and for those just above the benefits threshold there will be taxation to consider. So in real terms we will get a pension rise of average £200- 250 per year. In actual fact taking with one hand and giving it back with the other, yet the govt somehow looking like `knights in shining armour` to the public in general. Am I right or am I wrong?

It's about time that unite and ALL other unions really give serious thought as to who the support. Traditionally, unions support Labour but that was when Labour were the working class union now, Labour are a absolute disgrace and not fit to hold office.

You would think that they might have learnt something from what happened to the pensioners dying with the covid outbreak ,hope they are held to account for the pensioners that don't make it through the winter because of lack of heating!!
What I don't understand about the winter fuel being taken away from our vulnerable elderly. When people in mental health hospitals don't pay any bills while there, they receive the winter fuel allowance each year.why did the government not look at this and leave the elderly alone .it would not have had a negative impact on these patients as they don't pay bills but are kept warm .and the government would have gotten the money they apparently need .
@@colinwishbone4437 Because pension credit only takes your full pension to subsistence level...that is, the minimum amount anyone is expected to be able to live on. It isn't an 'extra.' It's an 'essential.'

Unions and labour are the same. Union Secretaries earning all inclusive six figure salaries, their members being paid large pay increases and Labour stating, "Those with the broadest shoulders should pay more" while accepting multiple high end freebies. Sooner Labour go the better. Pensioners have paid into 'The System' most of their lives, told they won't be getting their winter fuel allowances. Yvette Cooper could close the border, announcing The UK will no longer be taking in anyone arriving by small boats or lorries. Those that do will be swiftly deported. The money saved on migrants could give the pensioners their allowances and pay for services.
It maybe the first time in 15 years in power………… but I’m afraid after the way they have started…… then I think after the next general election, this term in office will be their last time.
I think the Labour part should merge with the Conservatives if they want to survive the onslaught of Reform in the near future.....shouldnt be too difficult they look near identical already.

The "freebies" thing is building because the Tory press is intent on building it. Am I wrong? Ok....someone explain to me in detail exactly what it is that somebody-or-other is supposed to have done that is so terribly wrong and important - and then substantiate that assertion. (Hint: "well it's obvious innit" is not acceptable). As to the WFP, somebody tell me how many of the genuinely poor and needy will cease to get that payment, and buttress your claim with evidence.
Deluded. Your own figures from the last impact statement say that 4000 pensioners would freeze to death if the WFP was removed. Hope you and your party are proud of that.
