yes those are rock cod or rock fish. they turn red because they live real deep eating prawn and that makes them red.

Actually there are lots of different species of rockfish of different colors. It has nothing to do with their diet.

@@micahgee By the way, I believe the blue-colored lingcod feed on crab a lot, and that does influence those blue-colored lingcod's flesh (and even outer skin) color - just FYI.

We call vermilion and yellow eye red snapper on the west coast but they are rockfish family members.

That was not a blue shark, it was A smooth hound or big soupfin or something.. blue sharks have this really long snout a different dorsal fin and really long pec fins (and are typically very blue here). My guess is part of the tope shark family.kinda has a dogfish like shape and blue sharks are kinda long and snake like. Tope sharks are great eating and blue sharks need to be pickled or something to be palatable because they released urea through their skin.

The large lobe on the upper part of the tail identifies this as a soupfin shark.

The mackerel is commonly known as greenback or correctly Pacific chub mackerel. Not Spanish mackerel. Thanks for posting.

I cringed when the one guy rested his rod on the boat's edge while fighting a big one. good way to get a rod snapped in half.

question, at 0:46 the ling cod, some of them have this funny grid pattern on them. They shouldn't come out of the water looking like that, what causes it?
@rippenlipstv5738
@rippenlipstv5738 5 лет назад
Cliff Lee it’s the pattern on whatever they put the lingcod on, the ground of the boat I mean

I hate to be this guy, but there is NO WAY that those springs are 28 and 35 pounds. I'd say they're more like 12 and 14 pounds.

Not even close to 25 and 28. Try 12 and 15. Exaggerate much?
