@@Frances643 What I mean by not the same people is the genetic background. The south has Greek, Arabic influences. The North has Celtic French and Germanic influences. Also Italy was all separate states before the unfortunate unification in 1861. Cultures are different as well. I have family in Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige. The cuisines are different too, Italy has many regional foods. North eats polenta South eats more pasta. Now, Trentino Alto Adige has foods that amazing, polenta with porcini mushrooms, speck, knodels a type of dumplings. The Dolomites Alps are a skier’s paradise. Val D’Aosta is beautiful too with it’s own cuisine and gorgeous mountains and plenty of snow! YES Northern Italy has snow and freezing temperatures. All the inventors and painters were from Northern Italy. Unfortunately the south has too much organized crime that spread everywhere.
