Thank goodness, an alternative person with common sense for once. I, too, would love to live in a world that doesn't need governments, military, police, security guards, or anything that requires protection and defence. I'd love to live in a world where everyone sleeps with their doors unlocked and open--maybe even have windows in their showers so that they can wave whilst naked at the drivers with their coffees in traffic. (Lol) But, that world will NEVER exist. We need governments to sign laws, police to reinforce them, and soldiers to protect nations, especially Western nations because we have many enemies that would pay to have us obliterated from history. Sadly, whenever I say that, some other goths look at me like I am mad, and have even disowned me for it. Like you say, picking up a weapon will provoke others into picking up another weapon, but there is no way around it if we want to survive and demand justice in our lives every day. That is why I appreciate those people who risk their lives to protect ours. Cheers to your common sense. 🍻🍻🍻
It unfortunately is a a sad reality, something I learnt in high school (due to be picked on by students and teachers), you need to be able to defend yourself... I think this quote explains it best "It's better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war", and while I would love to see a world where we are not forced to pick up a weapon to defend ourselves (or just defend ourselves)... unfortunately that just isn't a reality.
