Hi neighbor ... from Redondo Beach :-). I've been knitting for just under a year --- so I truly appreciate you talking about that aspect of your learning journey. I did my first Stephen West shawl when I'd been knitting just five months... I found the Corrugation shawl (it is a very beginner friendly worsted weight pattern, in case any new knitters are reading). It's full of mistakes and I love it :-) I just downloaded the Laneus Shawl pattern and am planning to knit it up in Lamb & Kidd tod (I have not yet found any nutiden to try yet). Also ... I was watching For the Fun of Knit yesterday and she had a nice recipe for a split hem (in case you want to check it out). Cheers!
Hello! Ooooh, I’ve yet to try Lamb&Kid but it all looks so luscious! I’m going to look back at some of SW’s earlier designs because they are truly joyous to make! Happy knitting- it just gets better and better and the community is quite special, IMO😊
Fabulous content again 🙏🙏the colour of your ranunculus is so stunning and it suits you masses … I will be purchasing some Posh yarn and also restarting my Pressed Flowers shawl so thank you for your inspiration!! 💃💥🧶🧶🧶🙏❣️
When I mix yarn, I like to use what we in Norway call brushed alpaca. That yarn does not have a very visible carrier thread in it as the mohair and it blends nicely. Lovely colours you show us again 😍Thank you!
Yes! I've noticed that, too! My only concern is the fluffy factor of alpaca as it could more heavily influence colors, but worth investigating! Thanks so much for your suggestion! 😊
The tee that you are designing has such a great shape and color. If it was my decision, I'd add simple wide sleeves, with a strong 2/2 rib at about 3/4 length. I think it would be an amazing 'pop over' kind of sweater, allowing jeans to be snug, while the top is expansive and more flowy. Maybe not what you're after, but I think it would be a pretty solution.
Thank you for another lovely episode!! I really enjoyed watching this ep this morning while knitting on my pressed flowers shawl. I’d love to see your version of the shawl! ❤
Thank you! You’ve really inspired me to try spinning! I got a spindle and basically bruised my left leg from spinning it😜I really need to practice drafting! All the best- can’t wait to see your shawl😍
Clockwork and Spectra by Stephen West - early designs that really emphasized the yarn🩵🩵🩵 Contrasting color mohair carry-alongs always disappear. I would save the Mimosa to pair with a yarn that highlights the glow ... ☺️
Oooh, I’ll check them out! Definitely process knit, for me. So fun! I actually want the thread column to disappear and enjoy the floof, but I may be asking too much of mohair😉 Glad to be connected here!
What you’re seeing when adding the mohair is the silk strand that didn’t take the color. There are mohair’s that the silk does take up the color when dyed. Nice episode thank you
Interesting! Thanks so much for your response! I often purchase yarn/wool online and therefore don’t have the opportunity to examine it fully- might need to re-think that when it comes to mohair☺️ Glad to be connected here🌸
Many thanks! I will definitely be sharing more @poshyarns stash in the future. It’s worth following them on Instagram, if you’re on there, to see their beautiful color ways each week- so inspiring😊 Glad to be connected here🌸
I ordered nutiden twice and apparently ended up with two of the most delicate colors. I have knit with the other unspun wools and enjoyed that. I did not enjoy nutiden at all!! There was no joy in that process for me. I know people love it and I sold one lot to a lady here who absolutely loves nutiden and sent the other lot off to a podcaster who needed more in the color I had to finish a sweater. I was so happy to find a good home for both of them with people who would give them love ❤ since I am not that person 😂
I understand! I love it, but it makes no sense in a desert climate😉 It’s all single strand knitting for me and I’m still trying the figure out how to strengthen it and not compromise the colors. Good to experiment and find what’s best for you! Thanks for sharing here! 💖
@@KNIT_LA I hope you are able to figure out what works for you. It does sound like you have ordered some colors that are a bit stronger so those may work a little better for making items that work for our climate and who knows after this last winter…you may actually get more use out of them then you think 🤣 plus I generally do a boxy style with a loose guage and open airy 3/4 sleeves with those warmer wools and it works out to be something I can wear more often here.
Thank you! I haven’t woven in the ends yet, but worn it out several times☺️ It’s a yummy weight and fabric and I’m enjoying more than I expected to😌 Thanks for watching and hope you’re not immediately impacted by the previous fires. All the best!
If you could have saw the lightning storm I was watching while listening to you last night. So so pretty but man did it push a lot of water into my car
Thank you so much for this episode. I am in a phase that I do, undo, redo and redo again… I just decided to undo (I am not certain of the right way to say it) a mostly finished Cumulus blouse from Petite Knit in a blue cotton that I purchased in Catalunya. The yarn was not the right choice for this blouse. I would rather stop knitting then having a garment that I will not wear. And I love your comment about being dressed in a single colour. It makes life so much easier! I love black jeans, a black t-shirt paired with a contrasting pop of colour from a vest or a blazer. I call it my uniform! And I love love wearing shirts because it so confortable and easy to wear and to match. Have a good week-end!
Thanks for watching and for your thoughtful comments! I agree, frog it,(undo completely), and save the yarn for a better project. It’s a time consuming labor of love and so rewarding when you love the end result! 🌸
A little late to the party here but just wanted to say that your camera won't focus on the knitting/yarn unless you cover up your face. It is prioritizing faces. So many beautiful projects and yarns! Maybe you already figured that out later, but just wanted to say something just in case.
