Zack, someone else has probably said this, but Mors Kochanski’s super shelter manages the frosting plastic really well. His design uses ripstop nylon (parasite fabric) under the plastic. The nylon allows the moisture to go through but cannot come back down once frozen. I recently saw one of his students show this exact effect on video. I will see if I can find the link for you.

Hello Zach, just a little advice to help your tip up fishing. In Wisconsin we use hole covers with our tip ups to help prevent your hole from freezing over. You can make your own or buy comercial. One of my favorite hole covers we made out of black 1/4 thick rubber. Cut it a couple inches bigger than the diameter of your hole. Drill a hole in the center the same diameter as the shaft on your tip up. Make a slit from that hole in a straight line to the edge to allow you to put the hole cover on and off. The dark cooler helps absorb heat from the sun and the rubber doesn't absorb water. And what ever water freezes to it you just flex the rubber and the ice pops right off. Good luck fishing

Hi Fowler, I have been eating so many pike in my life and here is what I would do in this situation: As soon as you catch one, remove the scales completley worry about the rest later. Take off filets keep skin on, and salt filets. The salt will produce this awasome pike flavour in combination with the skin after about 2 days and meat can be stored for months, if you add enoug salt. I even do this during hot summers, when I don't have any ice. I immediately take the sclaes off, cut out filets and add salt. Even in warm humid climate, fish is preserved that way..

Good mornings lads. My dad used to smoke the Fish Roe/ Eggs. Once smoked my dad and his family used to spread the Roe on bread and butter for their lunches. They were a big family of 11 boys 2 girls and mum and dad. The boys used to fish every day and dad would come home from work and he would smoke the fish. Good luck lads. ❤️❤️

I absolutely love this video and this adventure with you too. And that food that you make fallert sounds and looks so delicious I love fried fish eggs. And the struggles you guys are going through I can't even imagine how cold it is. But I think you were onto a good idea like having Airbnb where you take people out and give them the survival techniques and cook for them or have them learn from you and cook with you and survive and show them and do a little survival course because I know I would pay a lot of money to do that with you.

You want the warmest yurt use insulated concrete covers and sew it into a yurt. When i poured concrete for a living we would build tents out of them and heat it with a small space heater for a place for a quick warm up.

get another piece of liner and use staple gun to attach it to the inside creating an air space between. Then take a big square of the green material add burlap the same size and string it on the top and put a stick at the bottom with a few rocks to make an interior flap. I would add another layer of burlap in the inside creating another air space between the walls.

When I work in the greenhouses You would have 2 layers of plastic then we would have a little blower To put a space between The 2 layers of plastic You could kind of do the same thing without a blower You were just have to put it on the underside of your rafters your sticks on the ceiling Then you kind of layer some way sealed off so it becomes a space and dead between the ceiling Outside air Which becomes intelligent layer

In a bad situation y'all can zip the two bags together , 0° on the bottom, -30° on the top and you two spooning inside. I've had to do it before up on the continental when a freak blast came through.
