Winter Sessions Part 3: Niagara Whirlpool Steelhead 

4:00 same exact thing happened to me at the exact same spot lol

I have fished Steelhead here and use a 10 ft spinning rod with a fin-nor reel , 8 lb Berkeley moss green line . I use glow in the dark Lil Cleo spoons . The Steelies seem to like the action of the cleo . Sometimes I use chrome plated spoons I make myself because you tend to lose your spoon snagging on the rocky bottom .

I fished here and oswego and was using 10 with 8pound leader and was breaking off most of the time and people thought I was crazy. They were all using 12 and 15 leader. Sometimes if your in big enough pool like whirlpool state park the fish won't leave the pool most of the time so you'll be alright there. But, I wouldn't do that in a lot of other spots in Niagara. Devils he for example.

I wanna say you should have 15pound at least for main line there.
