Thanks for the compliments Will! A lot of people compare The Bar to Chesil but I tend to find the experience of fishing them quite different. Most of Chesil is usually much easier to cast off with the steps in the beach and the majority of the well known spots have deeper water, a more varied seabed and stronger lateral tide run than The Bar. There are a lot of similarities too though! 😄
I was on the beach when you came down and chatted briefly before you set up. The swell dropped enough on the ebb to get going soon enough and was easy fishing even with 5oz grip leads. Thought when I looked over a few times you had someone filming, thought to myself "probably another bloody youtuber" lol. Not as productive as I expected with just half a dozen small whiting and a dog for me, you never know down here though, got to take the opportunities to fish it when they come along, but also recognise that sometimes your flogging a dead horse so know when its time to pack up.
Thanks for the comment John, it was me filming Mark! I did expect it to fish sharper than it did, perhaps show some better quality whiting and maybe a codling or two. Like you say, you never know down there 👍
Enjoyable litle watch .A bit short for me ,well presented and a venue I havent fished since a kid on holiday catching mullet in the harbour when Vic Strike was very much alive .In fact he was in Veals years later as s tackle rep and remembered me as The Mullet Man 🤣
Thanks Chris - don't get Ben (who filmed it) going on about mullet. I felt we were lucky to get him away from them for an evening at this time of year to film this piece :D
