Winter sleepover in my log cabin with a dog. Snowstorm -18 degrees Celsius. 

Im about to be sleeping in a tent with my dog in the winter. I couldn't only dream of this luxury. Great video by the way.

Every time he lights the fire in that wood stove I can practically smell the tangy woodsmoke and feel the dry heat, it looks lovely !

I lost my ancient dog a little over a year ago and, even with several cats, I miss his companionship. Plus, camping in the cold he was a wonderful warm body if I stuffed him in my sleeping bag with me 😂. Keep on making videos, they are a ray of sun in a world that’s hurting

Little tip. Last thing before you leave, clean out your wood stove and get it ready for the next time you go up. That way when you get there, you lite it up first thing and as you unpack or go outside to clean off or fix anything that needs fixing. Within a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on how well your cabin is insulated, you come back in to a warm if not hot cabin to either relax and enjoy the rest of the day/night or you have a nice warm/hot place to warm up in for a few minutes before heading back outside to finish the work that needs to be done. We have been doing this at the cottage for years and let me tell you, especially the years that there is no or ver little snow, allowing us to be able to go up earlier in the spring, when it's still very cold and being able to get the kitchen wood stove and the living room fire place going within seconds and the cottage being completely warm and comfortable in minutes is a great thing. By the time I unpack the car and get everything in the cottage, it's warm enough that I can take off my winter jacket and sweater and snow pants (if needed to wear them) because as I start to put stuff away in the cupboards and the fridge and move around, even in my T shirt and jeans, I start to perspire. The temperature outside might be 20 below or more Celsius, it's nice and cozy inside, in minutes. In over 20 years of doing that, I have never come up to the cottage and found that the fire had spontaneously started and there was noting but ashes in the stove or fire place and every weekend before we leave, if we needed to lite the fires when we arrived, we clean it out and get it ready for the next time untill hot spring or summer weather arrives and we no longer need to lite the fires, they stay that way, until the fall and we need to start lighting them again due to the cold. Where I am in Canada and for the most part, all over Canada, The long weekend in May is know as cottage opening weekend, as cottages that are summer or 3 season cottages are usually opened up after being closed and, this is my case, not even accessible during the winter months due to being on a private road that is not plowed, at least not accessible without either having to plow the road or bring sleds and snow mobiles. We call it the May two four weekend, because it is usually on or around May 24th but also, what many refer to as a case of 24 beers, we call it a two four and that's what most people do when they go to the cottage, drink and fish
