The 2021 operating season came to an close for the SVR today, as trains are stopped for the annual period of winter maintenance to the railway.
With the line experiencing a mini loco crisis after the busy winter season trains, the lines resident Pannier Tank 7714 and Standard 4MT 75069 teamed up to operate the New Year bank holiday timetable. The third set saw Class 40 40106 substitute in for lacking steam fleet to keep the service at full strength.
With the last of the nasty seasonal weather having passed, it seemed a pleasant enough day to head out with the camera to catch some winter steam on one of the countries most photogenic lines. Hope you enjoy!

Really well filmed, and I have to say I actually quite like the class 40 to mix it up too
