Like you say, a good sleep system is all you really need. The long log fire is a great idea but protecting your sleeping bag is good thinking too. Fabulous Justin. Wherever you camp a fire feels like home. Probably we still retain dna that echoes neanderthal/cro magnon progress and they were certainly groundbreaking. Add to that our impressive technology with fibre/metals etc which brings us to present day ease. Pork is my favourite meat! You are so clever.

Such an awesome trip! I love minimal winter camping. Jealous of the pork loin. We started buying 1/2 cows from local ranchers and it is amazing! I did a trip this last weekend and we hit about -2. Luckily I brought my -15 bag and the thermorest neoair xtherm. Keep up the good work!!!!

We do the same thing with wood. Big logs and let the fire do the work for you!

Funny, but I started to get excited with you when you found the dead-standing hardwoods 😊! I'm always on the lookout when I set up camp. Watching you shake that snow off on yourself made me cold. I am beginning to experiment with insulation for hiking and hammock camping this winter until my Superior -15 degree hammock gets here. You always kill it with the menu. It's nice to do those short hikes and pack in "real" food. I'm getting ready to hike my final 270 miles of the AT this spring down South, and I don't carry much fresh food out of town, so I enjoy the short mile New England hikes when I can marinate some beef for kebabs (veggies optional, except for foil wrapped potatoes and onions). When I am sleeping on snow, I use a cheap Wal-Mart closed cell foam pad. I never get cold, and the snow melts just enough to custom-form to my body. I think that I will pick up one of those cheap tarps with the silver underside and see how well they reflect heat from the fire. Thanks for the relaxing trip. Makes it better in the house! 😉👍

Have you ever been using bivy sack? I was wondering, in previous video you were coting canvas with wax, would it work for cheap easy to do bivy/ sleeping bag cover? Nice camp out, btw ! Looking forward to more of your recipees (idk if i spelled that right; so more of your cooking advices..??).. edit, maybe that was not you, with the wax, not sure. I watch quite few very interestings outdoorsmen.., so... Maybe.

Love the videos man. What are you using for a fire starter? I just got a seek outside silvertip with a clear lite outdoors stove. And woth living in Michigan everything’s always wet. I’ve seen the cubes for sale online. But it looks like you used a cotton ball with wax.

I’ve got 7.9 acres and after watching so many Bushcraft videos I’m going to eventually give this a try. Is this property separate from your house land? Between the stuff you have at home with plants and animals, the camping, family, outdoor activities and the channel, you got some nice stuff going on. Real neat package
