In the Pacific Northwest, we love to go camping -- and the wild winter weather that brings misty storms as well as cold, clear, crisp days doesn't stop the average PNW'er from getting out into the forest or the beach.
It does help, though, to stay in a warm yurt when you find one available on the @OregonParks website.
Modern yurts are built on the foundation of the Mongolian nomad tents, and there is something almost magical about seeing the stars as you fall asleep and seeing the trees dappled in morning sunlight as you open your eyes in the morning.
And these yurts? They're built in Oregon at the world famous @PacificYurts in Cottage Grove, Oregon. De rigueur -- so to speak -- for the ultimate Pacific Northwest cool camping experience.
If you've never been -- I'd recommend a coast trip in the Pacific Northwest, and especially along the rugged portions found on the western edge of Oregon. If you're lucky enough to be able to visit in the winter when the King Tides are in, bring a warm jacket and your camera and plan on spending the whole afternoon marveling at the fury and chaos and beauty that happens when the sea meets the land.
