Good question and I hear this a lot. I haven't noticed anything negative about the sound of EverTune. In my opinion it is even better, because EverTune allows me to pick the guitar strings harder without the strings going out of tune. This is impossible with Floyds and hardtail bridges. You have to play them softer. For me aggressive picking sounds better, I'm a metal player after all. :) Some might like softer picking style, nothing wrong with that either. Of course the sound changes/"shifts" a little bit with every bridge option. How significant is the change? Not much really in my experience, if even noticeable. And the more important question is... Is the change good or bad, right or wrong? Well it's up to the individual player. For me this is not really anything to worry or to think about, because the benefits outweigh significantly with EverTune if there is even any minor negative sound change, which I haven't noticed. I have quite a few EverTune guitars already and will never go back. The benefits just are that significant! If you are worried about tone, I would focus more on the guitar woods, pickups, your amp and MOST DEFINITELY THE MOST IMPORTANT part, the cab/IR!

I wouldn't believe this "tone penalty" stuff at all. It's so subjective and like Jari said, is the change good or bad, or do you even notice it especially when playing with distortion? Just like the tonewood thing, that has been going on for ages. Some rare expensive wood with a cool figure is not a guarantee for "better" tone, than a cheaper alternative.

Wow, thanks for the fast answer. I never had any problems with the sound of my Floyd guitar. I guess then I have to either buy one or mod one of my guitars. For me the benefits are just for recording but I guess evertunes for live is even better… :D

You might have bad technique/ posture. Break it down and analyze it critically. Reevaluate and reapply. Rinse and repeat until it works out. No one can do that for you. Maybe change the lick up to suit your playing style. It's music. You're free to interpret.

You don't need music theory to write shred licks. Just combine notes that sound good to your ear and utilize different techniques to combine them. Or look up common scales like minor diminished stuff or Japanese scale and combine all of them to come up with your own stuff. No one can he creative for you.
