THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. Leave your suggestions for improvement in the comments below, and a final version will be released at a later date. Since this song is one of everyone's favorite pieces of Sonic music, I want this to be a somewhat-collaborative effort to ensure this is remastered correctly.

I love how this doesn't try to improve too much! This sounds like the song remakes from Sonic 1 and 2's mobile ports! Good job!

icl giving me a hard time there aren't more of these but i'm aware that's just because tracking down all the samples and reassembling the percussion isn't the easiest thing to put it lightly. still very impressive and my ears thank you for your services

I honestly love your restoration videos of Sonic 3's Michael Jackson tracks! If you ever plan on doing one of Knuckles' S3 theme or the Act 1 Boss theme from Sonic 3, I've got the original samples used (including that iconic drum from Blood on the Dance Floor)!

I wonder how this sounds if the bass drum could me more pumping and the "sound effects" (higher parts of the beat) a bit quiter. But not sure if this would be in improvement. This is already great.

Any chance we'd hear Sonic 3 Miniboss theme soon? If i'm not mistaken, all the samples are pretty much available for that track.

I still don't have all the samples. I need the orchestra hits, clap sounds (from the Knuckles theme) and the intro glass crash sound. But I do have the rest. I will do it once I have them all. In the meantime, Bouncy Glow's Music Room did a restoration of that, and it sounds fantastic.

At 0:34, is that the actual sample or was that recreated by ear?

To be honest, almost every sample is layered with a sound from the Korg X5 that sounds similar. The only sample I'm absolutely sure about is the "Hey!" sound. So I guess you could say this is more of a demonstration on what an uncompressed version of Icecap would sound like. And it could be a while before the actual samples are discovered, so I wanted to share the progress I had so far.

This is not emulated with a VGZ player. I recorded each layer and added the drum samples using high-quality sources.

The song in Origins was the originally planned song. The tracks for the last three zones of Sonic 3 were replaced by music done by Michael Jackson's team just before release, and because Sega was dumb with regards to contracts and ownership of *oh so many things*, you have the issues regarding those six tracks in the PC collection and Origins as well as the whole Ken Penders thing.
