Guys, I got this new Carpuride W103Pro. With Dual Bluetooth advertised, you will loose the BT connectivity of making and receiving calls. You will get only Wireless Android Auto and music Playing thro car stereo. The quality of music is good. But the fundamental requirement of receiving and making calls will be lost if you use W103 Pro Dual Bluetooth connection. FM transmit can be used, But the quality of stereo is not as good as BT transmit. I don't hav Aux cable in my car, so don't know how it works.
I found this on the issue of phone calls reverting to the unit in a Android Auto forum. Hope that it helps. "I just went into connected devices and I selected my Ford Transit connect. Below that there were a series of toggle buttons that I could select phone calls. I turned it off and turned it back on. Made a telephone call and everything started working perfectly. All of the sounds started going through my speakers. Boy. That was extremely frustrating making a telephone call and having to hold it up to my ear from the handset. Appreciate everybody helping with the ringtone, but that's completely a separate entity with Ford vehicles. For some reason when we would have incoming calls we could not select it unless it was set to phone ringtone. That's when that actually applies. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that when on Android Auto no sound would come through the speakers during a telephone call.."
Does the Bluetooth functionality for audio not work if your car isn't equipped with Bluetooth? So like will the audio just come out the back of the unit instead of through the cars speakers if the car doesn't have Bluetooth capability?
Hey, quick question: When connecting the Carpuride to the car's bluetooh can you use track skipping/seek functions on the steering wheel for example? What about aux? Does that let you control which track via the steering wheel so you dont have to look away to the screen all the time? Thanks
@@matrixkitty I found the answer online. Sadly it doesn't work that way apparently. However, I did find an alternative: Carpodgo T3 Pro. That says it supports Bluetooth audio. I have ordered one but it's not here yet. Also, if you use Apple Carplay it supports 60fps which is nice.
I am using the FM transmitter and I am completely surprised how clear the sound is. My car does not have Bluetooth and I had to add Aux to my car, since it was not manufactured with one. The FM transmitter sounds as great as the Aux.
It does! CarPlay is really just your iPhone displaying a UI on a secondary monitor. So anytime CarPlay is updated within iOS 17, you have those updates here too!
These things are junk. No one talking about using it daily. They won't reconnect Automatically every time you get back in the car. You have to manually connect it to your car and phone. This is not acceptable. I have two of these, different models, neither one works when your get back in the car. Waste of money
It only lacks one feature I would want. A dash camera would be nice. I like the option of a reverse camera. Since it’s like a tablet dual cameras could be implemented one for dash and another for driver. I’m thinking of picking of one or two of these. I recently got blessed with a 2007 truck from my father that needs these features. I want to upgrade my 2013 Kia Soul too.
Thanks for the review, I do have a question: if you connect a USB with mp3's in the Carpuride, can you play it from the car system? will the controls in your car work for volume or change to next sound?
I just got Carpuride it’s the W701 Pro it has dual Bluetooth, so I have my iPhone 13 Pro connected via Bluetooth to My car and use the Carpuride wired. Calls and music go through the Bluetooth of my car great. The only thing i noticed is when using the Maps app it won’t do turn by turn directions, is there something I need to do for it to do that.
Does it boot up quickly? One of things that hold me back is the wait between the unit bootup and the CarPlay ready. If you know the seconds it takes that'd be helpful!
my problem is my cigarette lighter doesn’t stop working when i turn the car off. Which is a problem if I want it to turn on, when i turn on the car. Is there a SIMPLE way around this? TIA
Oh that's tough. If you have a normal plug / outlet in the car you could use a brick and USB-C cable to power the carpuride instead. Otherwise I don't think there's an auto-off timer.
Bypass the car stereo altogether and install a cheap amplifier, route your car speakers to the amp. Connect this head unit to the amplifier via a 3.5mm to red/white RCA. Thank me later.
My car has Bluetooth already for my music (no aux input) but no Apple car play. The device will connect to my bluetooth for music and send it to my speakers? This is pretty important for me to know bc as I said I have no aux input, and I need my music :( thank you!
Question: if it has USB-C, could you power this with a portable power pack? I can't stand looking at cables and trying to avoid removing my dash to hardwire.
What's the audio sound like for phone calls? I'm planning on doing fully bluetooth and not the Aux cable, but the thing I'm waffling on is if it's good enough for handsfree phone calls without an external mic or not.
The built-in mic is ok / usable. Doesn’t sound as good as some built-in car mics, but you can connect your phone to the car Bluetooth for calls and use wifi to connect to the screen.
@@beardfm Next question, I just got mine! And I got the Anker dual USB-C adapter and an anker cable, but my unit doesn't power on with that. It'll only work with the USB-C cable and it powered on just fine, so is it the adapter that's the problem? Have you tried it and had it power the unit?
Hello! I bought the Carpuride 103 pro but I am having problems with phone calls with apple carplay. People can hear me but I cannot hear them. Any advise?
Hi , can ask for a question , whereby the dual Bluetooth transmission, will the car steering button able to control the music playback for the apple carplay ? for example pause or next track . thanks in advance.
Yes, it connects via FM transmitter. I’ve tried it a few times and it works well, the trick is finding a frequency in your area not being used by another station.
@@beardfm No, i am connected thro BT transmit and steering wheel functions is not working for android Auto/ Spotify. I hv to pause/play/Fwd in touch screen of W103 Pro
Hi Stephen, you mentioned that the w103 pro has a USB C power connection and that you can use another adapter like the Anker 2 port with a USB C cable instead of the power connector and cable that come with the unit. I have tried that with my unit and it doesn’t power on. Am I missing something? Yours is a very helpful review!
So there are 3 options: 1: The Aadapter doesn't supply the correct voltage. The carpuride (according to my knowledge) accepts anything between 12 and 30V. If you use an USB C charger that only puts out 9V, it obviously won't work. 2: Your Charger doesn't have enough Power. I guess you'd at least need 12V/1A to be on the safe side, so anything below that might be too low. 3: This might be a Carpuride issue, as the USB C PD protocol requires the Source to Check for a certain voltage trigger from the consuming device, I.e. the carpuride, to supply 12V. If the carpuride doesn't supply this trigger, the source will stay at 5V, which is too low for the carpuride to work.
@@beardfm thanks a lot. I see I had an AA in my 2016 few years back so didn't know if both sides need to be updated or just the phone. What about their own OS update, does it look like they do have good support? I realize that they maybe still early to tell. Tanx
@@beardfm Please give a detailed explanation and guidance on how you set up for the bluetooth of the phone to connect calls through the vehicle bluetooth. I didn't follow when you explained. Waiting for a delivery on the W901Pro. I will be livid if I lose the quality of calls from my vehicle's speakers. Thanks. And thanks for the video. I am in study mode. While I have your attention, would a BT aux transmitter resolve all of this? Android adapter or other alternative?
I don’t understand how the phone works with this unit. I can’t get it to come through car system in the car. what’s the sense of having to hold the phone in my hand to make a call? I don’t understand it. thanks for any help.
The mic is better than my 2011 Kia Soul, but that’s not saying much 😅 for cars with a better built in mic, I would recommend connecting your phone to the car for calls still.
thanks for replying. i drive a 2018 toyota camry with a 'not so sharp' 8" infotainment display, it has carplay but no android auto. do you think the external carpuride screen is better or an aibox for android auto. what's your opinion?@@beardfm
I got this same unit and according to the manual it seems the BT call function can only be used before connecting to carpuride ie connect directly to car. Once the phone is connected to carpuride via BT, then one cannot take/route call to car stereo which does not make sense :-(
@@beardfm sorry what do u mean separately? My phone is connected to carpuride and carpuride is connected to car stereo which then allows me to listen to spotify. But when i try to make phone call, there is no sound from either my phone or car stereo
@@chrislek4651I don’t have one but I have a guess that you can make the call audio come from the carpuride and still have your bt music playing thru the car speakers, but idk that’s just a guess
Their custom service replies to questions rather quick but often fail to actually answer them. I think their may a language barrier or comprehension of the nuances of the language. I asked if I could play music via the USB or SD Card while using Android Auto to run Google Maps. Got answers to everything but what I ask ... additionally I'm not sure they are on the same page as the manual The email said you can use up to a 32 gb micro card, but the manual says up to 64 gb ... so which is it? Anyway it's not hard to figure out if you have time to play with it, but I don't think you can play music via the USB or SD while you are using Android Auto unless you but the card in the phone. But who know I can't get an answer out of them.
Can you easily remove the screen from the mount? I want to hide the screen in my center console every time I leave the car because of the possibility of theft.
