Wireless CarPlay and AndroidAuto in Mercedes AMG GT/GTC/GTS/GTR 2016-2019 

How / where did you drill the required holes? Are you using the USB wire for anything?

@@SteveK99Sub I haven’t drilled them yet and I’m not using the extra usb. Honestly considering just leaving it under the center console and just using a trim tool to get access to it if I ever need it.

Some phones require it for the initial setup of wireless functionality. Plus that USB is used for updates to the module. Thank you

Yes, everything will be the same, except that traction control button in the dashboard. But it still gets removed the same way.

@@moealyasini2784 I called them and got someone nice over the phone. I sent them an email as he recommended, that he will immediately forward to the tech doing the installs and then will get an answer. I also mentioned that you posted the same question I have on the youtube channel.

Here we are, got the answers: - The kit comes with a USB female, that is used for wired connection and also to be able to do firmware upgrade of the carplay kit. Which means it is not mandatory to use. - The audio is mandatory to use in order to have the audio coming from the carplay module to play on the car. In other words, your phone is connected wireless to the carplay module, you still need to have the audio cable plugged with the adapter , from the carplay module to the mercedes USB plug. In other words it is like re-injecting the sound into the USB of the car. If you dont then you wont have sound.
