actually it makes sense that balance on the app/account is not directly linked to the card, so that you can put on the card only the amount you are comfortable with having laying around, in case your kid/wife takes the card or something

A software can only do what it was programed to do, so it is important to follow the instructions of how to use that software.
Wirex has been easy to use and great for buying crypto when you are in a hurry. However the exchange rate that they use when changing between different currencies has been very high and never match the real rates. I don't like when companies hide their fees and trick unknowing customers into thinking they get low fees. (A bit scammy if you ask me)
I've got it and Im not disappointed with it. My first bitcoin purchase was about 70euros and now at the time of this comment it soared up to 111euro. Massive climb. But I wont touch it for a while, hoping it'll reach the peaks of 2018. Peace
My trade platform asked me to pay $1009 for wirex card so that they can transfer my profit. I dont have any idea about all this. I dont want to pay for that amount because im so skeptical that they will take another money from me again. Maybe you can just let me know if this card really cost that much? Thank you. hi stu if you had put your money into bitcoin instead of lite-coin at the time you would of been quids in as bitcoin had a massive rise in April ,the idea that i used the wallet for was to buy my coins with my bank card then when it makes money to exchange it back into the pound or there a stable coin on there called dai which dosnt move up or down in price like the other coins but you wouldn't know this as wirex dont give you basic info to use it and to use there own card to pay for items seems useless as you may as well transfer the crypto back into the British pound and transfer that to your own card instead ??? also have to mention i started buying bitcoin in march and a whole coin was worth £2800 its worth now £8600 am 50yrs old so abit of youtube to learn from goes along way cheers mate
I use this card and they have fixed the thing with having to "add it to the card" but you still do switch out between crypto and your native currency. The card works well and the fees are pretty reasonable for ATM withdrawals and such however.... their etherium support is totally broken right now and their support is mediocre / over worked. It's pretty good thou for spending your crypto I pretty much use it as my main debit card.
Maybe it's because they are not actual accounts, so the balance will have to be transferred to the card account, operated by Contis Financial Services Ltd. Important to do as much research on a product/service BEFORE using it to understand how it works. I do agree it would be convenient if the card automatically detects currency or use funds directly from your in-app default account.
Seems a lot of rigmarole to give away lots of fees, every time you transfer or change currency, and that’s even before currency fluctuations......... 🤔
one question: i d like to know if you can do online purchases with it, i dont see any card number and security code on the card, do you get it by mail or something and its not on the card?
Solid review Stu! Nice to see you are a user of curve too! Have subbed. If you are day trader of crypto, or are fairly profitable the wirex card will be fantastic. Especially as it is instant. However, like you said, the average person might end up making losses, especially with fees and the volatility of the market. It can be very easy for the price to depreciate rapidly. Nonetheless, the cashback concept is great.
Yes but I have Hurd that it's not always stable and Coinbase many people have had problems. I'm with Wirex and there a really good company with no issues as all.
Alert! Something is going quite wrong with Wirex as a whole! The Wollo crypto is off at the Wirex exchange platform for quite a long time now (about 4 weeks). You can not exchange it at all and your money is just stuck there for ages! And now it got even worse for a week now: whoever has fiat currency deposited at Wirex can not send it to any other bank account. No software update takes this long, right? Something is going the wrong way here! Be aware!

@@Rorogee1 If someone gave me bitcoin I'd gladly accept it, but it's an asset for speculation not a currency. I don't think any of the cryptocurrencies in their current model will ever become mainstream before quantum computing breaks them anyway.

I gave it a try but found myself disappointed more than anything. I was expecting to be able to transfer bitcoin from my bitcoin wallet on my pc to the app, but you can’t, only buy currency on the app with your card which is locked into the app.
Tap on the crypto you need in the ‘account section’ and it pops up with more details about your transactions in that cryptocurrency. Then tap ‘QR Code’, and it’s gives you your bitcoin address. Not immediately obvious I’ll admit, but the functionality is there!
I think it literally means, its money because they say it is. In practice when you borrow money from a bank, they just type an amount into your bank account. The thing that gives that money its value, from the bank point of view is your, the borrowers PROMISE to repay it. Plus the interest. In theory when you take your loan there is only enough money in the system to cover the loan. There is never enough to cover the interest. As time goes on that, interest, money is created, out of thin air, by other borrower taking out more loans. It's the biggest scam in history.
