After dragging my F150 all over the south with barely visible tail lights I decided it was time to get serious about Wiring Flat Tow Lights. So many times we have tried changing lanes in traffic only to have every car pass us like we just in the way.
No Longer will I sit by and let them pass us by! It is time to get serious about Wiring Flat Tow Lights on an F150!I will no longer be overlooked by passing traffic!
I have found a few simple wiring solutions that will greatly improve our wiring flat tow lights.

If your signal normaly is bright enough then all u needed to do was add extra ground wires to both vehicles...😊😊

The tow lights are a separate trailer wiring harness and were not very bright, adding the led bulbs made the truck more visible but people still overlooked them. adding the two blinker bars has made such a big difference! Thanks for watching!

Soooo the LED lamps don’t really have a Max amperage they can draw. Opposed to a bulb that will just just burn itself out if overcurrent. What I’m getting at is watch for these LED bulbs you installed to be getting too hot. They could blow some fuses or melt the housing. It probably won’t be an issue. Just an FYI.

I originally had a plate holder that flipped up and locked, too many close encounters with handicap parking posts took its toll and I had to replace it. I have been unable to find the same one that I had and am for now using one that does not stay up. I had to remove one of the springs so It would not put too much pressure on the cord. here it is on amazon...amzn.to/3kwgobl

I picked up a 2” 4 pin receiver brake light for my RV. Went to install it and ended up scratching my head. I could have swore I hade a receiver back there, but nope.

So you ran a separate dedicated trailer wiring harness to the taillights and tapped them in? Just wanted to clarify for sure. Where did you run the harness, along the frame?

That is correct. Separate harness along the frame with light sockets added into the oem tail light housings. No need to worry about dioads and the issues that go along with that sort of setup.
