George, I know this video is a couple of years old, but I figured that I would let you know what the -3 means on the piston. First off, that's a standard size piston and the part number is DB209-3. That's why there is a -3 on the piston. The piston that superseded it is DB209-5. There would be a -5 on the DB209-5 piston. Wisconsin made improvements to their pistons as time went by. Oversize pistons would be marked on top .010, .020, etc. The early DB209 piston was a split skirt design, had a longer skirt, and was not cam ground. The DB209-3 and -5 are not the split skirt type and are cam ground. The piston thrust surfaces on the -3 are two different widths, and the -5 has equal size thrust surfaces. The oil ports in the oil ring groove are machined differently in the -3 and -5, also. The DB209-3 and DB209-5 pistons can be used in the Wisconsin AEH engine, also.
@@TheShadeTreeFixitMan You're welcome, George. I've been working on quite a few of these old Wisconsin engines and I've done a lot of research. For engine rebuild parts, call Tim Stein at Rock Creek Consulting. He has pistons, rings, rods, gaskets, etc., for many Wisconsin engines at unbeatable prices. I'm actually rebuilding an AENL with the same gear reduction unit on it as yours. I bought the engine mainly for the block, magneto, carb, etc. I'm not going to use the gear reduction unit or crankshaft, since I'm installing a crank and bearing plate to install the engine in an Economy tractor. You really can't beat these old Wisconsin engines, very well built, durable, and reliable. I watched a bunch of your videos, good stuff!
+geargriden19 I hope so too Daniel. I brought one home back during the Summer in something or other, but he didn't last long I guess because there haven't been any signs of one around. I am thankful that we don't have any mice on our property since we moved in 3 years ago. Thanks for stopping by.
From 5000 miles away it doesn't look that bad, George. The important parts look pretty sound. I'm sure you'll figure out what's best. Enjoyed seeing it come apart.
+Bruce Boschek I will take more apart for cleaning purposes and then use the best from both motors to make one good one. Thanks for following along Bruce.
Sounds like you are thinking of parting this one out to maybe supply parts for the other. Will this carb work on the other? If the bore is the same you could use the rings from this one? Nice update and take care
+Rusty “rustyglovebox” Glovebox I will use this one and part out the one with the broken rings, and rusted out interior. While the horsepower rating is lower, it must have been done with timing since most all of the parts are interchangeable. Thanks Lloyd.
+FullThrottle440 I probably will sell one of them to finance the use of the other in a future project. I do have some thoughts in my mind, but nothing concrete yet. Thanks for taking a look Dean.
+RamblinAround The mice liked both of them, but this one more than the other even. I'm glad that this one is pretty clean inside so far. Two to make one, which was my original plan, but then I was hoping for two and that still might happen. Thanks for following along Jeff.
Hi George I got a AENL-D motor that I like to rebuilt or partial done the problem is exhaust valve will not go up or down when turn the crank half away it will stop so have to find out which you maybe know what it might be ..My question is do you know where a person can get parts for them a certain site or something need `gaskets and so on ..I will really thank you much for your help ...
Sounds like you have a problem with your camshaft, or the cam gear may be stripped. You can view the manual and parts list here: www.m-and-d.com/pdfs/Wisconsin/AEN_AENL_AENS_instr_parts.pdf and there are plenty of parts for sale online on eBay or Amazon as well as Sam Bolens: www.samsbolens.com/wisconsin-engine-parts Hope these links are a help and enjoy your project. Unfortunately, I never finished mine before moving and gave them away.
Thanks for stopping by. Follow this link for all the information you need for your engine: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/viewer.html?pdfurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.m-and-d.com%2Fpdfs%2FWisconsin%2FAEN_AENL_AENS_instr_parts.pdf&clen=4680896
+MrHevyshevy I haven't given up yet! I have a side job coming up that might help pay for the needed parts so that should move things ahead. Thanks for stopping by M.
+sparky107107 I do have a lot of interests, sometimes too many I think, but I am grateful for the abilities that God has given me. Thanks for following along.
+not2fast4u2c I checked the oil level and it was full with no signs of water and clean. I will still tear it down completely and clean everything prior to painting, reassembly and start up. Thanks for taking a look with me Jim.
+roger oconnor My thoughts exactly. I purposely tore into the other one first, figuring if I could get it unstuck and then running, it would be a piece of cake for this one. Two into one is the plan now. Thanks Roger
No sir, I gave both of the Wisconsin motors to my friend Micah before I moved to Tennessee. You might want to inquire with him about it. Check in on his channel, BigDaddy1992: ru-vid.com/show-UCzM9rZ6UJS7KKKp7HJCYt1Q
I haven't finished my AENL engine yet, but hope to this Winter. I have an AEN and an AENL. I would like to get one of them running before selling anything. Thanks for your interest and keep watching?!
+MostlymoparIH OK, OK, is that a LITTLE motor cleaning or a little MOTOR cleaning? Whichever, I do have a fair amount of motor cleaning to do for sure. Thanks for taking a look.
