Great to have you back home in northern WI Rye, been listening to your shows since about the 1K subscriber count. I'm 12 miles north of Hayward nestled in the Seeley Hills country and know the Shell Lk, Cumberland, Spooner area very well, you landed in some beautiful quiet territory for raising children and living a joyous life. The fact you served in the Navy speaks well of the discipline you were subjected to, I am a 4 year Combat Heavy Engineer Army vet myself from the late 70's-early 80's and have been listening to Saturday Badger football since about '72. Keep up the good analysis and content with the superb guests you bring on, I don't participate with comments but do enjoy the insights. Just wanted to let you know, soldier to seaman, I appreciate what you do for all us Badger fans scattered across the Cosmos that is the Internet. Semper Fi brother....

Watched film on Pius, Lowry, and Thomas. I think this will be our most athletic and disruptive LB unit since Barry was HC. It’s going to be unrecognizable from last year. Year 2, the culture Fickell wants will begin to materialize. And good leadership at every level. This defense could be ridiculous! The 16, 17, and 19 units were great. I think this a deeper unit with more speed and disruptive potential.

I went back and watched TVD's 2021 highlights. I'm not sure our receivers can get the kind of separation those Miami WRs got. Tyler will not see Green, Williams, even Burroughs 20 yds behind the secondary.

TVD will need to as Ryan says to reduce his INT. He needs to do it. Supposedly the second half of spring ball he improved his play. Fall camp will be critical. If he does 72% completion, about 3000 yards, 20 TD and 3 int then we can't complain. That was the stats of Graham Mertz last season with the Gators. He did a complete turn around and the Gator fans are happy. No issues with him coming back as a starter in Gator nation. TVD will need to understand this is it (last season) and hopefully there is nothing that will stop him. Solid center play and WR not dropping balls. Hope he can do it.

Dose of reality seeing so little Bucky representation in pre-season All-B1G list (Rico & Hunter - 2nd team). Then you look at what the '21/'22/'23 recruiting class looks like now... and, yep, that seems about right. Unfortunately.

2.5:1 for Van Dyke is fine if it's 25tds, 10ints. Not if it's 5tds 2ints.

If you want 35+ sacks. Our CB's are going to need 3-4, safeties 5-7. Need blitz packages to work. I'm more concerned with hurries, pressures, & run stops. We also need a bunch of passes defended, & some ints mixed in.

Northwestern KILLED us on third down. I remember the announcer saying they were last in the B10 on third down conversions… we unfortunately changed that lol

Mellusi on a mission to prove the doubters...ahem Justin wrong. What's the YPC needed? 6.0 avg last year, 4.36 avg without the 89 yard run. 4.2 and 4.7 in 2021 and 2022.

Braelon Allen had 6.8, 5.4 and 5.4 YPC. Good number of carries marker Ryan said for Mellusi in 180 carries. Braelon Allen had 186, 230 and 181 carries in his 3 seasons.

TVD has a legit QB coach for the first time since 2021; Josh Gattis is an absolute fraud. We need to eliminate pre-snap penalties and WR drops to help bring out the best TVD we can. The defense needs to stop the run so opponents can't run play action on us, and contain QBs with average mobility, like Altmeyer and Card, from breaking off 20 yd runs.
