Cosmos: A Personal Voyage - Episode 4 Heaven and Hell (reimagined for a fresh new RU-vid audience).
Originally aired in 1980, 500 million people watched, this thirteen-part television series, written by Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan, and Steven Soter, has captivated audiences around the world. With Carl Sagan as our guide, we'll revisit this iconic series that has inspired generations of scientists and dreamers alike.
Unfortunately, there are now almost three generations of kids who have not had the pleasure of seeing this series, and the only way we could make this happen was to use an Ai narrator. We think the messages from Carl are worthy of this change to promote his work and introduce it to more young people. If we had the choice would would have kept the original.
This release is 10 years after the original, remastered and re-released with updated graphics and music.
The series was sourced from material openly available on the internet archive in the hope that the timeless knowledge and insights from Cosmos are accessible to a new generation. Whether you're a long-time fan or discovering it for the first time, you're in for an awe-inspiring experience. We believe the world needs Carls wisdom now more than ever and this type of message is desperately required for humanity.
Get ready to be transported to the farthest reaches of the universe and beyond. Let's start this cosmic adventure together on Billions of Atoms. Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and share with your fellow stargazers!
And now, without further ado, let's begin our journey with the first episode of Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. Buckle up, and enjoy the ride!
Cosmos: A Personal Voyage is a thirteen-part television series from 1980, crafted by Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan, and Steven Soter, with Sagan serving as the presenter.
Initially broadcast by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), it became the most widely viewed series in the history of American public television until The Civil War (1990). As of 2009, Cosmos remained the most watched PBS series globally. The series earned two Emmys and a Peabody Award, and has been broadcast in over 60 countries, reaching more than 500 million viewers. Accompanying the series, a book was also published.

This is fucking sad. Why doesn't the Sagan foundation make the original episodes public domain? Cosmos played a great role in shaping my life and intellect as a ten year old boy in 1980. Could it not do the same for millions of kids today?

It's definitely crazy. They could simply upload it all to RU-vid, there is a Podcast where Anne mentions she believes his work should be distributed as wide as possible. So I think it is probably the music rights which she would have no control over. It's really a tragic thing that these types of incredibly inspirational people aren't recognised by the next generations.

What's with the voice? You left it in the first one, why get rid of it? His voice and presentation is a significant part of what made the series so epic.

It's just a hobby, and I'm playing around with it. I don't take it too seriously. Yeah, it's a shame I couldn't just share the originals, but it is what it is.

In the playlist after Ep 4, I have linked originals from another channel. It's just Ep 9 that can not be found, so I might need to remake soundtrack for that.
