Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos Reaction 

The part that got me the most in the documentary was the showing of James Gandolfini funeral. I’ve heard of HBO cameramen being at the funeral filming for the family but never thought we were actually going to see footage from inside the church. Tears started falling down my face when David chase started to read his letter to James Gandolfini.

The ending was genius.

My kid brother Billy loved documentaries, every Sunday he would sit at the tv with his bowl of ice cream and pop corn to watch his favorite documentaries, mostly crime documentaries. Just a kid my brother was at 47.

One major revelation for me was learning how episode 1 was filmed as a mirror in some parts to Chinatown. Makee sense considering Chase's past talk over Roman Polanski movies

At some points the background music was so loud that I couldn’t hear them talk. I must confess that I’m intrigued about Chase’s obsession with his mother. Both a screenwriter and Gandolfoni mentioned in the documentary that when they spoke to Chase for the first time, they ended up talking about their mothers. It’s that all he can talk about? Did his mother see the show?

Completely forgot Meadows friend was his daughter until they showed the family pic while he was talking about his wife. It's definitely odd that he didn't go into any more detail about her being in the show. Could they be on bad terms? 🤔

HBO treats nickels like manhole covers....they should have been sitting on money like King Croesus 🙏🙏🙏

The fact that Scorsese doesn’t like The Sopranos, probably hurts David Chases feelings.

Very smart kino, the sacred and the propane!

I loved how they played music that was featured on the ending credits throughout the documentary. Minor spoiler alert: They do show the full r*pe scene in part II about 13 minutes in.

My impression of the “rambling” sequence was it was meant to be in contrast to Chase opening with talking about “how little I remember” then following that up with this barrage of insanely specific details Being someone who’s NOT really read up on behind the scenes stuff, I thought the documentary was really interesting. But I don’t think I’d ever want to be anywhere near David Chase; dude seems like one of the most unpleasant people in the world
