DBuV = Decibel Microvolt. You may need to connect the shark fin directly to the coax cable not through the base of the Stub. The stub base "could" have something which affects the signal built into it. Connections do cause signal loss as do cables that do not match. Keyword Attenuation
Hi Dan, i bought a shark fin a year ago. Same issues as yourself. Returned it for a refund. Just had the radio update from the dealers dont know if its worth buying another to try again. On a separate note MOT was done 2 wks ago, past no advisories. Took to Nissan dealership for minor service, got warranty as know boss so get a bit discount and get years RAC breakdown cover. Dealers wanted £220 for discs as corroded. Rang them explained about MOT. Said they can do it for £170, then stated would price match local garage, got discs and pads for £127 in the end! Asked to keep pads and discs, took to 3 different garages one said didnt need doing, other 2 said borderline.....mmm! So least its done for the winter and saved 100 quid!
hi dan , yeah brought the shark fin for looks ,my radio is the thinner version not the update on the 2014 model , signal qaulity is rubbish on all wavelengths and stations so i took it off and stuck with the original stick antenae
That´s why the Wish or alibaba or whatever china junk costs only a few euro´s, pounds or dollars and a decend brand made in europe costs 10 times that......because those work..... Bought one at a local carmedia shop for a Ford Kuga, it was´nt cheap but is was a perfect color match and functioned flawless.
I'm glad you tested the sharks fin aerial first as a recently bought one and I was going to fit it but after your review I shan't bother.. P.s, your reviews about nissan quashias are really helpful .
@@TheQashqaiGuy I filled your instructions installing the fin and got exactly the same results as you..only half the reception with the fin . totally s waste of money.
I bought mine from EBay about 3 months ago and forgot all about until I saw your RU-vid video..im wondering if there's a way that the aerial reception could be boosted? Or are they just a total waste of money?
Fitted one to a previous car, a Honda Civic Type R ......... absolute rubbish! I was lucky to get any sort of signal with it, ripped it off after a day and put the old one back on! lol
Dan, I did wonder, after reading a few reviews of those shark fin aerials, if it would be better (if not more expensive) to see if a Nissan Dealer supplied aerial would give at least the same reception on FM and AM. Great, that you are going to update the bulbs in the sun visors. As you know, being a numpty, I tried that without disconnecting the battery as I never thought it would be a problem. However, as you know, the battery has to be disconnected as the slots the bulbs go into are live and when lifting the cover to see the mirror, those useless bulbs come on, power to the bulb. I got one bulb out, and as soon as the replacement LED bulb went in, the fuse blew. I mean, who knew... not me obviously. Warning to anyone doing this, wait for Dan's lesson in tiny bulb changing (unless you now what you are doing, and not just think you know, like me). Wish I had.
Hi Dan I fitted a shark fin aerial awhile back. With the stick aerial the fm and dab were hit n miss even with having the software updated (D605) since I fitted the shark fin I don't have any problems with reception on fm or dab where as I did b4
I got mine from amazon think I paid about £11 or there abouts I bout a few things off wish and geek and found the quality not very good, Ali express and joom are similar sites but better quality ive found
@@TheQashqaiGuy I've just checked mine for signal strength FM is sitting around 48-52 AM is sitting around 30-33 DAB is sitting around 85- 90 And that's with the shark fin
I need to change my broken antenna base. Is there any good manual for removing the headliner at the back of the car so I have access to the antenna base? I searched for some videos here but I could not find any.
Can you test this on a youtube video becouse I tried it and it and it works just test it on yours but I close the mirrors while the car is unlocked I make sure all the doors are closed I sit inside of the car until the automatic handbrake isent red and it dosent take that long just a test but ones it’s gone off you press the butten to open the mirrors and it dosent open till you open the door so I do it when someone’s gone shopping if I’m in the car just test it thankyou

Hello I m a Fan from Bosnia, I want to buy nissan qashqai 2014 1.6 diesel or 1.5 diesel for a family and a trip to sea . Can you please tell me how much money so you apens on your car yearly is it expencive does it brake much and should I buy this car for using it for at least for next 10 years ? Thank you in advance
The 1.5 and 1.6 are good engines so as long as you keep it well serviced it should be fine. I make sure mine is serviced yearly as per the manufacturer instructions. There have been a few minor faults which I've fixed myself. 10 years could be a bit of a long time for it but as I say, if you look after it, it should be ok.
