Wish for Frieza's Death (Newgrounds Dragonball Z Collab) 

Did we actually ever see one of the dragons grant immortality? There might be some rules that make it less awesome than anticipated. (Besides the Galaxy dragon from Super)

@@LeoLionxyzed Shenron, the earth dragon, grants immortality to a certain character at the end of one of the movies. However it's possible that immortality is beyond the Namekian dragon's power.

I think there's a reason to believe the dragons (except for the super dragon ball one) can't grant immortality. First of all, if it was possible it would stand to reason that either Kami or Guru would've made someone immortal in the face of a threat to the entire world/universe; it would've been real handy if one of the Namekians was immortal when Frieza attacked, or if one of the Earthlings was immortal when Cell/Buu needed to be dealt with, yet neither of them ever even suggested this. Also, Zamasu in Super uses the Super dragon balls, which are significantly harder to find than the dragon balls of Earth or Namek, in order to become immortal; why go through the extra trouble if the regular dragon balls were capable of granting the same wish? Secondly, King Piccolo, someone who definitely would know what the dragon balls were capable of, wished for eternal youth rather than immortality. That seems odd, why would he purposefully leave himself exposed to being killed when he had the choice to become truly unkillable, but it makes sense if you assume he had thought of immortality but knew it was impossible Third, if we think about what absolute immortality means, it is an extremely powerful ability. If you're incapable of being killed by literally anyone, including beings with godlike power such as Goku, doesn't that mean your immortality power is stronger than them, and hence the power to grant that wish had to be stronger than them as well? This would go against the idea that the dragon's power is limited None of this is solid evidence, but it's enough to convince me that complete immortality isn't something the dragon can grant

He could kill someone but if they are stronger than his creator then he can't. Shenron actually said that he could not kill someone stronger than the creator of the Dragon Balls in the original DBZ when Oolong wished for Nappa and Vegeta to be destroyed before they reached Earth. This does mean that if Kami and Piccolo were fused then they could have done so since it was stated that Kami was incredibly strong before he and King Piccolo split. So Shenron and the Namekian dragin could kill someone but not when they are strong like Frieza, who was the strongest in the universe till Goku turned Super Sayian and they later introduced Majin Buu who in DB Super was mentioned by Frieza as one of the two individuals that even he couldn't beat.

@@santy09 Maybe, but it would depend on how close to a planet they are. They can't breathe in space(unless you count movies as canon), but they can hold their breath and also fight in the upper atmosphere of a planet.

I think Kami at one point states that he made the dragonballs specifically to give hope to people, to inspire them to perform great acts, knowing that there were some mythical treasures around that could help them. But people were greedy, so he hid them. I think it's also stated somewhere that the dragonballs can't revive people who died of natural causes, basically only murder, and of course, the original set could only revive people once. In that sense, the dragon balls weren't supposed to be tools of convenient murder. Even using them to kill a villain goes against the spirit of why they were made in the first place. But of course a lot of these rules got thrown out the window for the sake of extending the show, and being able to wish people into another dimension would just ruin the whole show

The english dub thought that was his name and proceeded to call him that. Every other translation calls him Freezer.
