Yeah, I compared wish with aliexpress. I uninstalled wish. It was horrid. And not even competitive with aliexpress any way. And quality is more questionable.
“Wish, shopping made fun!” Very accurate, because you wish you get the stuff you ordered and if so, laugh yourself sick with the quality. Thats my experience with it. Ali is better, but its not like they have never sent pure crap to me. Their motto could be “AliExpress - hit and miss”..
James, great video as usual. On the Taclight, the fast strobe is not in the SOS pattern. It is considered a "Disruptive" strobe. It is meant to disrupt and confuse an assailant when shined at his eyes
When I used to work at a manufacturing warehouse the company I worked for (not allowed to use the name, my apologies) would sell our products that didn’t pass inspection or were defective in some way... Do you think that’s a possibility for some of this stuff?...
Yes absolutely... also often they just run the entire product line after hours and sell off label. Computer circuit board manufacturers for name brand companies often run 2 shifts of name brand and 1 night shift off brand the copyright company owner is not told about
A lot of things on Wish are actually items that didn’t pass quality control but are still considered “usable quality” so rather that the company losing out on the product, they sell it to other companies (like Wish) for cheaper, so that they aren’t totally losing out on profit. As long as you aren’t expecting for high quality electronics or anything like that, then you’re actually doing your wallet a bit of a favor by buying things that missed a mark on quality control
You should make a second chance video, compiling a bunch of the items you thought poorly of in the past. I think those tongs have a bit of a learning curve and you may grow to like them. I'd like to see a month long run on using those regularly.
At around 24:00, they probably aren't lying, if you notice it says '22x brighter than *this* flashlight' instead of 'regular' flashlights... It's talking about the flashlight pictured on the box lmao.
I had an "As seen on tv" Shark vacuum cleaner that doubled as an upright, or you could detach part of it for use as a hand-held. It performed excellently....
Wish is just a Glorified Aliexpress. Aliexpress is much cheaper even that the free wish stuff... And if you want a flashlight just search " XM-L2 " and buy it, it cost 5$ and it's amazing.
I know this is a old video but I didn't know the tac light was one of your first videos, I found you through that video years ago, crazy man. Good to see where you're at now
the redshift anti glare arent for use in the sun........ They are to remove glare off water or at night around bright lights ..... you may want to test them properly :-) xxx
The worst thing about those driving cameras is the battery goes dead in the car out in the cold of winter. Plus, usually the video quality is awful. I wonder if a good one is available anywhere that can last -20 C and +30 C temperature range?
Hey there James! Don't we have an FTC? Where are they? Why aren't they patrolling Commerce? They are supposed to protect us from these knockoffs, right?
Also, it is in China. The knock-off factories would have to be examined and so forth by the Chinese government. But, because it makes them money and China does not give a shit about quality, they won't do anything about it.
I agree with you on the dashcams. The wish has better color definition than the ASOTV, but I'd take the Vantrue anyday. Only problem is that the vantrue I bought has a capacitor than a battery. When that thing wears out, you have to manually power down the camera, otherwise the clock will reset, which can get very annoying very fast.
G brown the idea of slapping something with spinning blades has been around for decades, but the slap chop, made by Vince offer has only been around since the late 90’s
I shop Wish often. But I've learned not to by clothes or anything of "importance". But some stuff is worth it. Unfortunately the s&h is so expensive, ESPECIALLY if you have to send something back. Cost me $17.00 to
My understanding is that the "Fake" tac lights were around first and the "real" tac lights are just those with a bell and howell logo, and maybe better packaging/instructions. Also, is it just me, or did the wish tac light have a brighter, bluer light?
Wish was founded in 2010 by former Google and Yahoo developers Peter Szulczewski and Danny Zhang, therefore it is a middleman from the Chinese wholesalers and marks up items and shipping to make a profit. Right now they have a lot of "free shipping" because of the holidays, but generally the shipping is usually more than the item itself...hence that's where they make their money. They have large import warehouses on east and west coasts. Anything you find on Wish that you want....go to Ali Express and search for same item...most of the time a lot cheaper on Ali because you are ordering DIRECT from the china manufacturers. Still a bunch of junk though LOL
Every time I see one of those gadgets like Slap Chop to cut up onions I wish I could should them how I dice onions. From start to finish my way with a knife is faster and cleaner. And you don’t have that thing and it’s multiple pieces to either wash or fill up the top rack of your dish washer. It was about 25 years ago and I was still dicing onions the way my mother taught me. It would burn my eyes so bad and they would water like crazy and it was a slow process. That’s reminds. My way you dice the onion goes so fast that your eyes are never bothered. You don’t even get a chance to smell them. Anyways about 25 yrs ago, I think it was on the Food Channel. One of the cooks decided to slow down and show you how they cut so fast. It’s all about when you are peeling it and making the first couple slices that makes the onion ready to cut. It amazing. I wish I could describe how to do it here but I can’t explain it. Not all the cooks on that Network do it like this person did. I never used that onion chopping gadget again.
I've never ordered from Wish... When I order direct from China, it's usually electronics, and AliExpress, Banggood, Fasttech tend to offer the best deals on that type of gear.
Actually they're not counterfeits most times. They all come out of the same factory. They check every one before they ship it to the US. Those who meet the standards go to the US normally. The ones that didn't meet the standards end up in wish. They actually buy in bulk the defective ones and then resell them.
I'd like to see a review of these products after you've used them for a while, let's say 6 months to a year just to see if the wish products hold up as long as the genuine versions
I was excited to find a few product that looked very interesting on Wish, I thought I saw a ship by date a couple weeks from my order date. Well that was not exactly true. what I saw was what I wanted it to be (so it seems). The real delivery dates are 6 weeks from Feb 3rd???? I tried to cancel 24 hrs after but nope I was locked into the deal until after the products are delivered... To tell the complete truth I realy didn't know squat about Wish before I bought from them. But I am a ton smarter now and learned my lesson cheaply $24.89 total product cost. Thank you for opening my eyes and waking my intelligence about Wish.com.
I am wish user. Compared to shopee and lazada in malaysia, their shipping charge totally expensive. Somehow when they said free just pay shipping cost, they included the item price along 😂.
I have another test I wish you would also do with knock offs or ‘Wish’ products. How about the metal quality? You mention the quality or lack of. But could you please wash them and see if the cake brand rusts? That’s what I find with products from the dollar store or wish/knock off’s.
Seems to me there are laws involved here. If they’re selling products that have brand names for existing US products, then I would guess the manufacturers of the US products should be enforcing their patents, copyrights, whatever. And if they’re saying on their site that this item is XYZ brand name product, and the customer buys it, and what they get is NOT that brand-name product, then isn’t that violating other laws?
I want to see what happens it you launch a fake Rocket Copter with the real sling shot. Do they go as high as real ones? In other words, are they less aerodynamic, or is the entire problem the rubber band on the launcher?
LOL I bought that tac flashlight for 3 bucks here in the Netherlands... And it looks like the real one although I thought it'd be the wish one.... weird. But mine said something like "military flashlight" if I remember correctly, so must be fake. Mine has an orange button and the zoom options are stated correctly, but the button is smooth and not ribbed. Mine also only does off and on btw. And it does also have a blue light. Weird.
I have a 'rip-off' TacLite as well that has that half button pushing thing. Though it's not really a rip-off, it's from a name brand and not from China, but it's clearly a clone. That said I'm happy with it, it's the same size but brighter than a TacLite plus rechargable with USB (still waterproof as well).
The 'real' Tac Light was made in China as well. Mine was crap The fake one was a much better light, I use 2 of them now. I'm also using a M2R Warrior now by OLIGHT, but even that is Chinese made and has a bad BAD design flaw. I did tell them but they wasn't interested.
I think the shipping is so slow from Wish because everything is coming from China. It's all cheap Chinese knockoffs. It's like shopping on the streets of NYC but online. Lol
Slap Chop seems like a weird product. In Finland we have had those for decades and they are called onion choppers. It seems like someone just took existing product and started to market it being good for everything. I probably would buy the product if it was called Onion Chopper. But Slap Chop. Seems like a weird gimmick I wouldn't use.
All these companies should pay a penalty fee for false advertising. It kills me when all these products say HD in their packaging and when the consumer use them for the first time, they be like WTF? Maby its "HD" for a blind person. No offense to blind people.
If I remember correctly, there was a story about how this stuff gets made. Essentially, an official order is completed at a factory in China. Once that first run is complete, the factory owner or someone with access to the schematics either sells it to another factory down the road OR does another unapproved run through their own assembly line. Since it's not the first official run, the next factory uses whatever material that's cheapest to them to make it yielding similar looking but less durable products. If the original factory does an unapproved second or third run you end up with a better product but typically missing the logos. However, they're way less likely to conduct strict quality control.
These are the infamous third shift products, aka when factory owners keep a line that has been configured for a product running after hours with their own resources and personnel which results in slightly inferior products
Ok... I just have to say this... your worst of 2019 video was recommended to me. Don’t know why, as I typically don’t watch this sort of video, but I was interested nonetheless so I checked it out. Well, here I am 3 videos in and just continuing to go down the list. I’m obsessed. You have a very satisfying filming voice and everything is so detailed in your reviews. One complaint... I want to buy 200 things now! I can’t afford you lol. Thanks for your videos. They’re great. Definitely subbed.
I know one of the videos was recommended to me like an hour ago but I can already tell my day is ruined. Forget about homework i’ll blame it on witchery.
