So it’s the very early 70s, I went to see my favorite band, ‘Ten Years After’, there were 2 opening bands I had never heard of, I thought to myself if I can just make it to the main act, well the two openers were: Wishbone Ash and the Original Allman Brothers Band with Duane, I was blown away with all the guitar mastery, best $5 i probably ever spent

That was the same situation with me at Winterland in San Francisco , I think J. Giles was the top bill but anyway, Wishbone Ash played great and the crowd was blown away . Saw them every time I could after that and bought many of the albums .

My favorite group of all time. Saw you guys in HOUSTON PLAYING WITH CAMEL IN 1972. Most awesome concert I've ever seen. Met you in Corpus Christi and gave you wooden feathers that matched the wood on your guitars. Never stop rocking.

I also have to say , of all the bands I have seen and heard - Wishbone Ash is my favorite rock band of them all . I mean I love Yes , Caravan , Jethro Tull , Nektar , Blue Oyster Cult , ZZ Top , Atlanta Rythum Section , on and on , but I just love coming back to Wishbone Ash , the 5th album is probably my favorite , along with Argus , but those were some great days . I remember when I was on leave from Ft . Hood Tx , and I called up my friend who was a DJ at KZSU radio at Stanford University . I requested ' Hometown ' and he mentioned my name on the air and the fact that I was on leave from the Army ect , and by that time we were in the backyard of my friends house in Atherton having a few puffs of green when the song came on his family's stereo . Memories ....

Toujours performants mais la période 70-80 avec Laurie Wisefield était magique, les dialogues de guitares ont inspiré beaucoup de formations. Wishbone Ash... 👍👍🎶

A friend to from Conwy to the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, in my 20 year old mini van in the 1970's; well worth the risk, saw them three more times whilst working all over England. This concert was on my birthday; I hope they come to Perth Australia.

This is one of the bands that totally changed my life when I heard them,back in high school in the early 70's.....along with the allman bros.,santana,floyd,clapton's bands,aphrodite's child,Lynnyrd skynnyrd, the dead,early genisis,jetho tull,english celtic influenced(fairport convention,maddy prior,renbourn,etc.),and other similar bands-playing music that i only really totally understood after taking good,clean natural psychedelics,in a safe,natural (not human unconsciously created, not saturated with bad,unhealthy patterns-ie. In nature,not most town/city environments) setting.....glad to see them keeping the music real,alive and vital still....thanks for posting.

Great music .. great sound after all the years that it was written and released to the world. I was 15 or 16 years old when I first got a copy of the Live Dates double album. I always kept in my memory the tunes of all music that such an album had. And I say that I always kept that music in my memory. Because I lost that album (I do not recall what happened to it), but, never again I listened the beautiful tunes of that album. Until 30 years later. That I stepped over a copy of it (now in CD version). I am very glad of having found this video of this inmortal band and their creations. That 50 years after they still sound beautiful, powerful, inspiring, great in one word ! I do not know if this band is composed by the original Wishbone Ash members (I doubt it). Maybe ... If they are really the original members .. it is almost a miracle that they sound very close to how they sounded as recorded in the Live Dates album. Released in 1973. Great miracle from RU-vid 😅

Nothing wrong with this at all I disagree with the negative comments quality band great music don’t ever disrespect Andy Powell kept this going for 50 years when the rest didn’t want to know the band has been through some lean times the ash were never about vocals anyway although Paul Rogers may have took them to another level 😮
@petercutler5877
@petercutler5877 5 месяцев назад
Yes, Andy has kept it going all these years, when the others have decided they had had enough, wanted a break, or wanted to go off and do something different, We are mainly including the original 4, Andy, Martin, Steve and Ted, but also Laurie who came in after Ted. Those 5 wrote all the most known, 70's songs, which are still the main songs still played by both W.A. and Martin Turner. I think we should honour all of them, although I know a large number of fans who do not agree, Without all of them, we would not have such a large legacy still to enjoy. As for the vocals, I seem to remember that the vocal harmonies between Andy and Martin, were just as important as the music being played on their instruments. Still, it's 50+ years ago now, and memories play tricks on one over time. Listen to others of that ilk. Are they still able to produce the vocal goods they once were capable of!!

I don't think that type of vocalist would have suited the band's music. That includes Plant, Mercury, Geddy Lee, Jon Anderson. All too unique and brash. Nothing wrong in their normal settings. Greg Lake and Andy Latimer type comes to mind..@@paultoon

Mmm do you lads + lasses feel same way, you look at all of the bands singers artists of all genres' and like all everyone" yes we've became old ,,and you feel ahh man, I wished I'd had more of that time, but as from people who visited old time music halls,maybe entertainment to maybe up to 1990s etc our western world as becoming dissolved, of pride, intuition ,,and been made to be ashamed of all of our art invention, freedom to express etc,,but now people brainwashed to turn on there on born and bred people,"these times places groups,singers etc will never be again, clubs,pubs,nightclub's etc,they've crushed crashed them out of existence, just like industry, shops etc

I know what you mean but I was surprised that they still pull off a performance so good 50+ years on. Deep Purple can still pull off great shows and albums but no band in that genre will now have that plus of their youthful energy and inspired music which hadn’t been heard before live, by a young audience.
