Noticing the art style swapped from pixel to vector. Not a bad choice honestly, I feel like both options have their charm. The vector looks so CLEAN though! I love it!
When this game comes out, would you have any interest in also sharing how the analytics/sales/Steam's marketing process works? Obviously with as much as needs to be obscured as necessary. I've always been so interested in what all a Steam seller can see.
Hey Mark, congrats on getting this far in your process, wishlisted immediately! Just curious, do you want some splash art for a cover or poster? Something with either 3d models of the character and/or some vibrant illustration? Let me know, would be fun to put together!
I'll be honest, the game doesn't looks like my cup of tea but I want to support you for the high quality content you make so I will give it a chance, wishlisted!
I'm with you on this. Anything for the algorithm. I'm delighted that "gaming" is a big enough tent that Red Dead Redemption 2, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Life is Strange, Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, and Mind Over Magnet can all fit neatly under the big top with room to spare.
Usually new small/one man team indie games like this tend to have professional looking art but jank, game jam-esque movement and animation. So I'm surprised this one was the opposite, deceptively so, the gameplay looks so crisp. With a dedicated art team, your future projects could hit a new level. This was an insanely good first project, highly excited for what you cook up next.
This game, and really this whole channel has been such an inspiration to me. I never really wanted to develop games before but it's become an interest of mine some time between you starting this game and now. I want to give it a go one day. Sure I have a few larger game ideas but starting out I just want to make small lil free to play indie titles with a simple premise, but one that will keep players busy.
Looking great, can't wait to play the final release. Really liking the solution to the issue brought up by some playtesters of "leaving behind" the magnet when moving to the next level, though I imagine that extra bit at the end necessitated a significant redesign of at least a couple of levels.
I'm so thrilled to be able to play it soon ! Looks amazing ! I look forward fort the next episode of Developper about the release and the final steps 😉 Take care !
Feedback: I feel like it's missing a grand goal, like "help magnet scape the sewer" - trailer starts with him falling down, so it make sense helping him get back up?
Great idea! Imagine a small 1-2 seconds cutscene where you can see the world shrinking as you fall trhough the pipe... then the fall at thr beginning of this trailer... then angry byt determined face of the character zoomed in, then the rest of the trailer. . Would give a powerful drive to the entire trailer/game.
I wonder if this will be one of the most successful youtube devlogs ever, in terms of success to promote a game on Steam. It'll definitely be up there no matter what.
The super crisp, clean, Adobe Flash style graphics are what's really selling me on wanting to play this. I'm not exactly sure why but I'm really starting to appreciate less visual clutter in my games.
jokes on you, i did that when the steam page went up! it's been fun to see this go from "wait, i've never made a game before.... how can i call myself a game dev advice channel?!" to "untitled magnet game, wishlist now!". Can't wait for it to come out :D
