Wow, just wow! Seriously impressive range. As if the nifty quad channel superslot MCR54 wasn't already enough to catch my attention!

It does seem to have great range, but would it be possible to carry out tests with whips in the bag next to a recorder? Also - and very importantly, mic pack in small of back/front pocket - not exposed with antennas visible with Pyer’s Arms spread wide as not to touch them? This would give us a real world example of use. Also, I’d be happy if you could also to do a test in London where it is more problems RF-wise. These will all help us figure out what wireless is the best investment. I have Audio Ltd, Wisy, Lectro & Zaxcom - and have owned more in the past. So it would be great to see the real world tests. My MCR52 (dual channel tiny Rx) is disappointing compared to the MCR42 it claims to match, so I would be interested to see what is actually going on with the MCR54. Thanks for the tests and hope everyone is not going insane whilst not working during this COVID year. X

Michael, Gotham Sound is selling bundle pack now with your choice of mic and they're 3 pin lemos, just like the A10's.

I would like to see this test with the TX tucked under the shirt and up against the body - like it would be on an actor. The body seems to suck up some of the RF so distances are less. That would be a true working test for radios.

you could use a from Ursa, Viviana, Hush Lav or anything like that to keep the antenna from touching the skin, it helps with the signal 👌

Incredible! Simply astonishing. Wonder how much further you could push it would do with 100mw and high density mode. Similarly, would be interesting to see a range test with a simple G3 as TX.

With 30mW vs. 50mW it should go about 70% as far in free space, perhaps nearer the same with obstructions. It's the TX power and antenna performance that defines the range, not the TX itself.

And the sensitivity of the reciever?

I would love to hear an A-B test with Wisycom Tx's and Lectro Tx's (in mode 3) going into this receiver. I feel like Wisycom will sell quite a few units if Lectro users know they can keep their transmitters but get a 4 channel true diversity receiver.
@pyerseaston9633
@pyerseaston9633 4 года назад
In terms of range it will be the same assuming both Wisy and Lectro TXs are set to the same power. The only difference will be the Lectros in Mode 3 emulate Sennheiser so you would have to set the Wisy to 'SEN' mode. This would not affect the range noticeably as the compander parameters are very similar between SEN and ENR, which we used for this test. I hope this helps.

I also would love to hear that comparison, as Scott points out I think there are a lot of Lectro users happy with the SM form factor but would love the convenience of the new mcr54 Wisycom receiver. I have a DSQD in a bag, the idea of having 8 receivers in a smaller space than that is very appealing....

Thanks so much for this video. Very impressive! Would you consider doing a video showing the range with different antennas on? Say, Shark fins vs dipoles vs whips?

We are planning to do one with just whips on the RX in a bag.

That really is impressive range. Will Lectro transmitters (sm) work with these receivers and perform as well? Thanks.

If you set them to Mode 3, then yes

Any chance you can update this with the bag whips test too?

Thanks for the suggestion, this was the first walk test we did, before we started the whip antenna tests. We are planning a lot more of these so will add this to the list.

What iem were you using ? How long were the cables from the receiver to the Aerials ? Many thanks
@pyerseaston9633
@pyerseaston9633 4 года назад
We were using a Wisycom MTK952 TX and MPR50 IEM for the ears. I'm glad you asked about the RX cables, they were 5m RG58 cables, so about 2dB loss. I deliberately chose passive antennas and no active circuitry between antenna and RX so we were only measuring the performance of the RX itself. The 2dB loss would reduce range by a reasonable amount, so we may have got to 1000m with no cable loss or active antennas :)

Pyers Easton - Yes glad you didn't use an active set up - the only fair way to show the performance which is amazing. Thanks again.

Is 50mw the max output?
@hughfox6601
@hughfox6601 4 года назад
Hey Jim, I’m pretty sure it’s up to 100mw output in the States, it’s limited to 50mw in Europe 🙁.
@pyerseaston9633
@pyerseaston9633 4 года назад
It is on the EU transmitter, though there is an EUX version that allows 100mW where permitted. The US ones do indeed have 100mW as standard.
