My reaction to the magic stuff started with "That's nice. Bit weird but in a really good way. I can dig it". Now I'm leaning towards "Okay, now I want to become a wizard!". The daily rituals seem both helpful, fun and a great way to add some magic (pun intended) into our lives.
I think the connection with witchcraft always has to be a personal one. I was a witch throughout my 20s and 30s, was too busy with bringing up two enthusiastic and noisy children through my 40s, but am renewing my connection in a very personal way in my 50s. Great video.

wow, I literally just realized that how you approach witchcraft is almost exactly how I've been interacting with Christianity. I grew up catholic and haven't believed in any supernatural element to the universe for many years now, but I still attend church, say a prayer in the morning, etc. I was mostly viewing it as "i know it is helpful to me to express gratitude and it feels less weirder to say a prayer to my childhood god than to the unfeeling universe and there are still elements of Catholicism that I find beauty in despite not believing in the framework behind it" but i didn't have quite the words to express what you did.
I LOVE the idea of housework rituals. I hate cleaning and chores but like tidy spaces so I think incorporating magick into it is brilliant!! I use necklaces as charms / intentions too. I was the one who asked the crystal necklace question. Thank you for answering! I do something similar, although it’s really just the one necklace I wear-one with four charms to get me in the writery mood: a typewriter, a book with “Once Upon A Time” on it, my first initial, and my birthstone. Had a friend call me a literary witch, and it was THE highest compliment tbh.
I have the same feelings as you described about my practice! I took so many notes on this video and will definitely be coming back to it. One of the things I've been working a ton on (actually very close to the first iteration I'm gonna call "not beta," and I've been doing free readings for people on Google Hangouts during quarantine!) is a custom deck of cards-originally Tarot, but now it's more like a poker deck /oversized major arcana. I've been building it for exactly the reason you mentioned-we have these things we can't help but believe, or that our brains believe even when we don't, and we don't have to just be driven around by that, we can use it to our advantage. I felt that the possibilities of meaning provided by the framework of tarot didn't quite adequately encompass the range of ideas I wanted to feed back into my consciousness, so I started customizing, and ultimately just made a deck essentially from scratch.
I found your Corona video while I was looking for vlogs about the symptom progression, and I liked your idealistic outlook and the way you say "em" so I thought you were a cool thoughtful person from another county with a perspective I haven't been exposed to, so I clicked another and, hey, you're a witch. Awesome! I know exactly what you mean by your subconscious believing things. It's such a strange realization to have, and I'm glad you found a path that works for you.
Thanks for sharing, I find your content really interesting! Especially thought-provoking to me in this video was your exploration sound 20 minutes in of how you came to witchcraft through fiction and also realizing that your subconscious can believe things your conscious mind does not, and how that holds power whether we believe in a traditionally religious or spiritual way.

I need to dig a little deeper first, but you might just have provided a solution or at least a new direction for my spiritual "quest" I have found myself on for a while by now. Have been binging all of these Q&A videos because my experience has been very similar to you! First started exploring witchcraft about 2010/2011 and 'tried on' a lot of labels that really did not fit my own naturally secular/atheist view. I really relate to what you said about your subconscious believing things that your conscious mind doesn't. I am a very disorganised person but have always felt very connected to ritual.
Ooh, Lenormand is fun. I like that it’s a little more down to earth than tarot, at least the way I read both. My favorite tarot card is the Queen of Cups from The Fountain Tarot.

27:13 Have you considered calling it a Book Of Shadows? Personally, I've went with "Book Of Lights" for my main notebook, because it has a focus on Christianity, but I've drawn a lot of inspiration from Book Of Shadows books on RU-vid.
I relate so much to this! I've been trying to incorporate my real world magic into the magic system of my book but it's proven difficult so it's very much a WIP. Loved hearing your daily practises though. I really want to do more on a daily basis. I've been slacking a bit.
I'm surprised that you'd had difficulty finding non-religious witchcraft information. When I was getting into witchcraft back in 2001, I'd been fortunate enough to meet people who actively discouraged young people from joining Wicca just to learn witchcraft (pushback against a specific popular author, "Mama Silver" or Silver Ravenwolf)-and who encouraged young people interested in the occult to get into psychic energyworking instead. I actually appreciated the ideological leanings towards feminism and protecting/restoring the natural environment among even 'Fluffbunny Wiccans', but with respect to those initiatory traditions, I did follow the alternative directions given and delved more into psionics...then psychospiritual alchemy, archetypes, and that sort of thing. Witchcraft as related to pop culture has, from what I have witnessed, some pushback to it as well from what I believe is not as good a reason or reasons, due to my underlying belief system in...I suppose it's 'narrative psychospirituality'. Most recently I've been adapting the Mistborn magic system of Allomancy into my own practice...trying to find what lifestyle habits give me "Pewter" to burn, like a full night's sleep at a decent hour and a balanced diet and maybe a coffee, NOT literally eating Pewter of course...or what activates "Tin" (not literal tin) or my sensory issues, it burning on what's guaranteed to be a bad day...But it doesn't get really witchy until I exercise "Bronze" and "Copper". Rowling's magic system may have been rubbish really (Gamp's Third Law came from nowhere), but plenty of the symbolism is archetypal-the Four Elements aren't copyrighted-so I can understand if people still find resonance in mustering up a Patronus to chase off an amorphous bad vibe, or something. Your use of the time-turner necklace is brilliant!

Could you expand on your beliefs around tarot cards, given your 'psychological' view of witchcraft. Do you believe you pull a particular card by fate or something, or is it more about giving yourself a prompt to visualise and reflect how you want? I have a similar psychological view of witchcraft but I've never really understood how tarot can fit into that, as it seems more 'supernatural'??
when I started out the value of tarot for me was that it gave me an archetypal yet randomized LENS to view my question or situation through, which forces me to take a new perspective and often yields interesting insights. sometimes synchronicity does come up and the cards that come through feel more “fated” or “magickal” and I let myself be open to that, even while knowing that I’ll still get something out of it even if it is random. tarot for me is about understanding the present better, not telling a predetermined future.
I had such a similar experience concerning the dark and religion. I have always been afraid of the dark, but there was a weird turning point in my 20s where the fear definitely lessened, and it was mostly because I started to educate myself on monsters and magik and such. I come from a Christian/Catholic family, so pretty much everyone in my family prays and believes in God. But I used to get in trouble for questioning it when I was younger and never understood why I couldn't question it. In high school I told myself I was agnostic because I was trained to believe in God, but I questioned it. In college I started learning about different religions and belief systems and I found I was more likely to believe in Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology than in any one particular religion. I also took women's studies in college and found that I seemed to relate to a lot of witches in those history books. All my life I have been incredibly sensitive to everything physical and non-physical. I've had a lot of paranormal experiences and oddly prophetic dreams that would take place in real life years later. I also have incredible intuition. I like learning about myself. I am a cusp Libra--born a day after Virgo--and INFJ-T and I match pretty well with all of those. But personality-wise I'm very introverted (I in INFJ) and a misanthrope who has depression and anxiety and possibly might be autistic to some degree. There are all these other factors that could possibly explain a lot of my sensitivities and intuitions, but growing up, before even really doing too much research into any of these things, I had a weird gut feeling that I was made of Magik. I'm so far non-practicing due to my living situation and lack of freedom to do so there, but secretly I consider myself a witch. When something happens that I predicted would happen or something odd happens to me and people consider it "lucky" I tell them half-jokingly that I'm a witch. Another issue is I also believe in science as well, which only helps to complicate and also clear up some possible reasons for why I am the way I am and why I don't really fit in anywhere, but seem to relate to magik-minded folk.
Hey! I also come from a very religious background that I never could get behind, but still had that fear of the dark. I'm a INTP-T type personality and I love everything science (everyone who knows me even remotely knows I'm a big nerd, lol). However, I don't think science and magick are exclusively mutual. The more I learn about the universe (I love learning about anything astrophysics/astronomy related), the more I feel like there is definitely magic there. Anyway, I'm still super new to consciously persuing witchcraft, but the more I learn, the more I feel connected. I don't think you really need special stuff to practice (just my personal thought). Even daily things you do can be used as a way to practice, like brewing yourself some tea, watering plants, etc.
Same here about fear of the "monsters" long after the appropriate age to be afraid of monsters! It's a bit of a paradox. How does one go about protecting themself as a beginner, when it sounds like effective protection is an intermediate to advanced witchy thing? ...The way I got around that was starting off already in a lot of danger, or at least feeling that way, so I couldn't conceive of a how-do-to-due-to-it-might-become-dangerous in the way of questing through otherworldly mysteries...because I was too busy constantly going "argharghargh geroff me!!!!!" at stuff that didn't bother anybody else and so I didn't understand it myself. As metaphysics remain largely a mystery-because if it weren't so, I stubbornly insist that it would be a science-it works out inasmuch as I stumbled around like a psychic katamari ball finding What Works for my not going "argharghargh geroff me" anymore (because there's nothing on me anymore) and I still don't understand it. Which is not the method that I would recommend for learning psychic protection, but cannot personally advise any other because I haven't done any other. (Oh, maybe golden/white light visualization thing, didn't help much. Earth Blanket technique, maybe, connecting with the Earth Energy and then cocooning oneself in the aura still connected with the earth, puts me at least on 'psychic shutdown' as a side effect a very effective nullifying shield...but not everybody wants that side-effect.)
I would watch tarot readers that mention God and even pray before the reading. However, I’ve come to really pick up the Bible (not only that, but join bible study) and GOD + divination/the occult (tarot, chakra, meditation, etc) CANNOT even be in the same sentence. God denounced anything that isn’t of HIM. I couldn’t believeeeee this LOL. But man was I in for a rude awakening when I went to search for the page of 1/10 of the tarot readers I loved... the first tarot reader I ever watched tbh... and she had changed her channel COMPLETELY. She would pray and tell us to seek God... if anyone said God DIDNT like tarot or these things, I would’ve laughed so hard in their face because I really believed in it. Even angel numbers. Okay back to the story, sorry... so she became a makeup channel and everything about God flew out the window! Everyone in the tarot industry began to expose her. I can only imagine the others I used to watch... they probably haven’t got caught yet. However the biggest thing I learned in the young lady getting exposed... that all the tarot readers and believers in tarot shared: YOU CANNOT PUT GOD AND DIVINATION IN THE SAME SENTENCE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. I am on day 3 of a 7 day fast and I’ve been in the Bible everyday, praying, and crying. The devil is working so hard to try to confuse us. God bless.
